So you understand it

What grants exist for solar self-consumption

Installing solar panels in Mallorca can be cheaper thanks to several grants that, depending on the moment, can be combined. These are the usual routes. Which are in force and apply to you we confirm in your free study.

Self-consumption grant (FOTOPAR 2026)

The FOTOPAR 2026 programme of the Balearic Government funds solar self-consumption with 600 €/kWp for individual homes and batteries. Its availability depends on there being an open call and funds at the time. If there is one, we prepare and file your application; if not, we let you know as soon as a new one opens. (The state-level Royal Decree 477/2021 "Next Generation" aid closed to new applications across most of Spain.)

FACTOR 2026 (heat pumps, batteries, EV charger)

A new Balearic Government call, open since 9 July 2026 and funded by the Factor d'Insularitat. For individuals it covers 70% of the cost of an aerothermal heat pump and of an electric-vehicle charger, and 45% of battery storage. Grants are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis until funds run out, with a deadline of 28 February 2027. The solar PV strand of this call is for companies and organisations; if you are a private homeowner, your route for solar panels is FOTOPAR.

Income-tax (IRPF) deduction

There is an income-tax deduction for works that improve the home's energy efficiency. The percentage and requirements depend on the regulations in force in the year of installation. We tell you whether you can apply it and what you need, such as the energy performance certificate.

Municipal rebates (IBI and ICIO)

Many Mallorca town councils rebate part of the IBI (the annual property tax) and the ICIO (the construction tax) for homes with solar self-consumption. The amount and number of years depend on each municipality's bylaw; we check the one for yours.

Surplus compensation

Besides the grants, the energy you produce and don't use can be compensated on your electricity bill by your supplier, reducing even further what you pay each month.

Who can access the grants?

Let's be clear: not everyone can receive every grant. Each grant, deduction or rebate has its own requirements, and the award is always decided by the authorities, not by us. To qualify, both the applicant and the property usually need to be in order: for example, up to date with the tax office and Social Security, the property legalised and correctly registered in the cadastre, with the necessary licences and permits and, in many calls, not having started the installation before applying.

This means situations such as an unlegalised home or extension, a building outside planning regulations, the lack of a habitability certificate, cadastral irregularities or debts with the authorities can exclude you from some grants —even if the solar installation itself is perfect—. In those cases we tell you honestly from the start and, where possible, advise you on how to regularise your situation before applying. And remember: even if you don't qualify for a specific grant, self-consumption is still worth it for the bill savings and, in many cases, the IRPF deduction and the municipal rebate.

How we do it

2

Installation and legalisation

We carry out the self-consumption installation and legalise it with the authority with all the documentation the grants require.

3

We apply and justify

We file the grant, the municipal rebate and prepare your IRPF deduction. We follow up the file through to payment.

What we need from you

You'll find it on the IBI receipt. It identifies the property to the authorities.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions about grants and subsidies

What grants are available for solar panels in Mallorca?

Depending on the moment there may be several routes: the FOTOPAR 2026 grant from the Balearic Government when a call is open, the income-tax (IRPF) deduction for energy-efficiency improvements to the home, IBI and ICIO rebates offered by many Mallorca town councils, and — since July 2026 — the Balearic Government's FACTOR call, which for individuals funds aerothermal heat pumps and EV chargers at 70% and batteries at 45%. In our free study we review which are in force and apply to your case.

Do you handle the grant application for me?

Yes. We take care of the paperwork from start to finish: we prepare the application, gather the technical documentation, file the grant and justify it before the authorities. You just sign and provide your details.

Can I deduct solar panels from my income tax?

In many cases yes: there is an income-tax (IRPF) deduction for works that improve a home's energy efficiency. The percentage and requirements depend on the regulations in force in the year of installation and on your situation. We tell you whether you can apply it and what documentation you need (such as the energy performance certificate).

Is there an IBI rebate for installing self-consumption?

Many Mallorca town councils rebate part of the IBI and ICIO for homes that install solar self-consumption. The amount and duration depend on each municipality's bylaw. We check the one for your town and, if it applies, help you request it.

What documentation do I need to apply for the grants?

Usually the owner's ID (DNI/NIE), the property's cadastral reference (IBI receipt) and the latest electricity bill. Some grants also require the energy performance certificate. We tell you exactly what is needed and prepare the rest.

How long does it take to receive a self-consumption grant?

Timeframes depend on each call and the authority managing it, and are usually several months from justification. We keep you informed of the file's status at all times.

What if there is no open call right now?

Even without a direct grant open, self-consumption is still worthwhile thanks to the bill savings, and you can usually take advantage of the IRPF deduction and municipal rebates. Plus, if a new call opens, we let you know so you don't miss it.

Do you cover the whole of Mallorca?

Yes, we work across the whole island of Mallorca. We assist you in English, Spanish and German, and we reply the same day to arrange the visit and the savings-and-grants study. See our work and customer reviews on the JSL Google Maps profile →.

* Guidance only, with no contractual value. Grants, deductions and rebates depend on each call, tax year, available funds and the authority in force, and on the applicant and the property meeting all the required conditions (up to date with the tax office and Social Security, property legalised and registered in the cadastre, licences and permits in order, etc.). The award, amounts and timeframes are decided exclusively by the competent authority: JSL manages and files the application but does not guarantee that any grant will be obtained. We confirm what applies to your specific case in the free study.
