Why a heat pump

Benefits of an air-source heat pump in Mallorca

One bit of kit takes the place of the boiler, the water heater and the air con in one go — and it uses far less.

Up to 60% lower bills

The heat pump uses free energy from the air: for every kWh it consumes, it delivers between 3 and 5. The saving versus gas or oil is immediate.

3-in-1: heat, cooling and hot water

A single unit gives you heating in winter, air conditioning in summer and hot water all year. No more three separate systems.

We handle your grants

FACTOR 2026 call (Balearic Government, up to 70% of the cost for individuals, open since July 2026) and the income-tax (IRPF) deduction for improving your home's efficiency. We take care of the paperwork.

No gas or oil

You remove combustion and its risks. Clean, renewable energy that increases your property's value and improves its energy certificate.

Comfort and quiet

Even warmth with underfloor heating, gentle cooling in summer and practically inaudible operation. Stable comfort throughout the house.

Legalised and warrantied

Installation carried out and legalised with the authority under RITE, with an official warranty and JSL maintenance service.

Before you decide

How an air-source heat pump works

An air-source heat pump pulls energy out of the outdoor air —yes, even when it's cold— and uses it to heat, cool and make your hot water. It burns nothing: it just moves heat from one place to another with electricity, and it does it more efficiently than any boiler ever could.

The secret is the COP

Performance is measured by the COP, and that's the figure that makes the difference: for every kWh of electricity it uses, a good heat pump gives you back 3 to 5 kWh of heat or cooling. In other words, 70-80% of the energy you use to heat and cool the house is free — the air provides it. That's why swapping a boiler for a heat pump knocks the bill down so much.

One unit for all three functions

In winter it heats, in summer it flips the cycle and cools, and all year round it makes your hot water. One unit doing the job of the boiler, the water heater and the air con — less clutter in the house and less to maintain.

The Daitsu Multi-Hybrid: hot water at no extra electrical cost in summer

When the job allows it, we fit the Daitsu Multi-Hybrid (the system we call "3-pipe heat pump"): while it cools the house in summer, instead of dumping the extracted heat outside it recovers it and heats your DHW. The hot water comes at no extra electrical cost while the air conditioning is running. According to the official Daitsu spec, the system COP reaches up to 4.24 (AOHD 40 model, 12 kW). We pair it with Jaga low-temperature radiators and a high-density welded-tank cylinder. More on the Daitsu Multi-Hybrid →

Three Daitsu options to fit your case

Daitsu offers three heat-pump systems covering three very different home profiles. Which one we fit depends on the type of property, whether it's new build or refurbishment, and how much you want integrated into one unit. Quick guide:

System For what client How it works Max COP Heat recovery
Multi-Hybrid
("3-pipe")
Large premium villa · fully integrated Single outdoor unit (AOHD) + Hidrobox/Aquabox + Aquatank up to 300 L + direct-expansion indoor units (wall, cassette, ducted, floor or ceiling) 4.24 Yes
Free Max ACS Mid-size detached or large flat · multisplit + recovered DHW Multisplit DOSM-27KDT/ACS + WITD FM 190 L DHW tank + up to 4 indoor units (Artic, Artic Plus, ducted, cassette, floor) 3.90
(SCOP 4.6)
Yes
Pack Confort New-build modular · CTE HE4 compliance with standalone DHW HEATANK V4.1 (100/150/200/300 L) + Artic Plus (wall split) + Atlas II (ducted) — separate systems 3.91
(HEATANK 300L)
No

Data verified against the official Daitsu/Eurofred 2024-2026 spec sheets. All are CTE READY and compatible with solar panels. Multi-Hybrid uses R410A, Free Max uses R32. Eurofred 3-year warranty (extendable to 5).

The perfect match: heat pump + solar panels

And since the heat pump runs on electricity, pairing it with solar panels is the no-brainer: Mallorca's sun feeds the heat pump for free, so you end up heating and cooling the house at next to no cost. We design both systems to pull together.

Real numbers

How much do you save with a heat pump?

It depends on what you're replacing, but the ballpark is clear: swapping a gas or oil boiler for a heat pump usually cuts your heating and hot-water spend by 40% to 60%. Coming from electric radiators or an old air-con setup, you'll save even more.

Payback and grants

A heat pump for a single-family home starts, as a rough guide, at around €8,000 to €15,000, depending on the power, how you spread the heat (underfloor heating, fan coils) and whether there's building work. Between the yearly saving, the Balearic Government grants and the IRPF deduction, you get it back in a few years — and the unit comfortably lasts 15-20.

Before we fit anything, we'll give you a free study with real figures: which unit suits you, what you save a year, which grants you qualify for and how long until it pays back. No obligation.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions about heat pumps

What is an air-source heat pump and how does it work?

An air-source heat pump (aerothermal) draws energy from the outdoor air to heat, cool and produce domestic hot water. For every unit of electricity it consumes, it delivers between 3 and 5 of heat or cooling, which is why it is so efficient. A single unit covers all three functions of the home.

How much do you save with a heat pump versus gas or oil?

Replacing a gas or oil boiler with a heat pump usually cuts heating and hot-water costs by 40% to 60%, because the heat pump uses free energy from the air. If you combine it with solar panels, much of its electricity consumption is free too.

Does the heat pump also provide air conditioning in summer?

Yes. The same heat pump reverses its cycle and cools the home in summer, whether through underfloor cooling, fan coils or ducts. That is why we call it a 3-in-1 system: heating, cooling and hot water from a single unit.

Does an air-source heat pump work well in Mallorca's climate?

Mallorca's mild climate is ideal for heat pumps: winters are not extreme, so the heat pump works in its peak-efficiency range almost all year. It is one of the areas in Spain where this system performs best.

Do I need underfloor heating to install a heat pump?

It is not mandatory. A heat pump works with underfloor heating (the most comfortable and efficient option), with fan coils or with low-temperature radiators. In refurbishments we can also reuse the existing installation. We advise you according to your home in the survey.

Is a heat pump noisy?

No. Modern heat-pump units are very quiet, comparable to a high-end air conditioner. The outdoor unit is placed where it won't be a nuisance and the indoor system is practically inaudible.

What grants are available for heat pumps in Mallorca?

Heat pumps qualify for the FACTOR 2026 call from the Balearic Government (up to 70% of the cost for individuals, open since July 2026) and for income-tax (IRPF) deductions for improving your home's energy efficiency. We handle all the paperwork for you. The award depends on each call and on meeting the requirements.

What maintenance does a heat pump need?

Maintenance is simple: an annual check of the unit. As a company authorised by Industry (RITE) we offer a maintenance service and the official warranty so the installation performs at its best throughout its service life.
