We're Joaquín and Juan. In Artà, the Colònia de Sant Pere and Betlem we install air-to-water heat pumps: one unit that gives you heating, hot water and, with fan coils, cooling, and replaces the oil boiler, the butane or the stove. RITE-registered thermal installer, from survey to legalisation and grant. We don't subcontract anyone.

Artà is an inland town: in winter the heating goes on and many houses still rely on heating oil, butane or firewood. That's where a heat pump has its place.
The houses in the old town are stone, with walls that hold the temperature and small patios. The outdoor unit goes in the patio or on the roof, where it can't be seen from the street and can breathe. If the house is within the protected surroundings of Sant Salvador, the outdoor unit counts as visible works and goes through the Heritage authorities first (Balearic Heritage Act 12/1998, art. 37).
In a renovated finca, underfloor heating with a heat pump is what suits a thick-walled house best: gentle, constant warmth. If the finca is an agritourism hotel, its hot water comes under the legionella rules: see legionella in agritourism hotels and holiday lets.
In the Colònia and Betlem many houses are opened for part of the year. The heat pump provides the hot water and, with fan coils, the cool air; it is left programmed and controlled from your phone. The outdoor unit goes sheltered from the north wind and the salt.
In numbers
A boiler delivers a little less than the energy it burns. A heat pump takes heat from the outside air: the Daitsu Multi-Hybrid, for example, declares a SCOP of 3.72 in its official 2024-25 catalogue, more than three units of heat for every unit of electricity over the winter.
In a stone house, thermal inertia works in your favour: the walls hold the heat and the unit runs gently and steadily. According to IDAE, Spain's energy agency, each extra degree of heating raises consumption by about 7 %; 21 °C is comfortable and 15-17 °C is enough in bedrooms.
Grants
FACTOR 2026 (Balearic Government): 70 % for individuals, counting at most €1,000/kWt (plus €450/kWt if a new distribution system, such as fan coils or underfloor heating, goes in too) and capped at €25,000 per installation. Open until 28 February 2027 or until the budget runs out; it requires a seasonal performance (SPF) above 2.5, doesn't cover air-to-air units in homes and requires domicile in the Balearic Islands, so a second home is usually left out.
Artà's IBI (property tax) rebate is for solar energy, not heat pumps. If you add panels too, see solar panels in Artà.
If the work improves the home's energy efficiency and is certified, the Spanish energy-efficiency income-tax deduction may apply (works until 31 December 2026). Income-tax (IRPF) deductions are claimed by you in your Spanish tax return, using the invoices and certificates we hand over.
We prepare the paperwork and, with your authorisation, file and justify the grant; you sign the application and the grant is paid into your bank account. The authorities decide whether it is awarded.

How we work
What heating you use now, what the walls and windows are like, and where the outdoor unit could go without being seen or disturbing anyone.
Heat loads of the house, as the RITE requires (IT 1.2.4.1.1); heat pump, tank and emitters; and legalisation with the Industry department.
If you live here, we file FACTOR 2026 with your authorisation. Servicing: whatever the RITE (IT 3.3) requires or, if the manufacturer asks for more, the manufacturer's.

Common questions
Often, yes. In a house in Artà's old town the boiler is replaced by an air-to-water heat pump and the pipework is reused if the radiators are up to the job with cooler water; we calculate it room by room, as the RITE requires (IT 1.2.4.1.1). The Daitsu Multi-Hybrid, for example, declares a SCOP of 3.72, about 3.7 kWh of heat for every kWh of electricity.
For an individual domiciled in the Balearic Islands, 70 % of the cost, counting at most €1,000/kWt, plus €450/kWt if a new distribution system such as underfloor heating goes in, and capped at €25,000 per installation (BOIB no. 83 of 2-7-2026). Open until 28 February 2027; it requires an SPF above 2.5. It's a Balearic Government grant: in Artà it applies just as in any municipality.
In the patio or on the roof, where it has air and can't be seen from the street. If the house in Artà is within the protected surroundings of the Sant Salvador enclosure, which is a Bien de Interés Cultural, the Balearic Heritage Act 12/1998 (art. 37) requires authorisation from the Island Heritage Commission before the licence. We prepare the unit's datasheet with size and noise level.
Royal Decree 487/2022 (annexes III and IV) treats it as an installation with a legionella risk: storage at 60 °C, above 50 °C at taps and return, and cleaning and disinfection before reopening after a shutdown of more than a month. In an agritourism hotel in Artà the heat pump is designed with its tank and its back-up for thermal disinfection, which is done at 70 °C.
It exists, but in Mallorca we don't offer it: here, with the humidity, a cold floor gets condensation, so our underfloor heating only heats. In the Colònia de Sant Pere, by the sea, summer cooling comes from fan coils or ducts with the same heat pump. The RITE (IT 1.1.4.1.2) takes 23-25 °C and 45-60 % humidity as summer comfort, and the fan coil helps remove it.
It can be, especially if it replaces an electric water heater and several old splits. FACTOR 2026 requires domicile in the Balearic Islands, so with a holiday home in Betlem you normally won't have that grant. The sums are done with consumption: the Daitsu Multi-Hybrid, for example, declares a SCOP of 3.72, and you program it from your phone before you arrive.
Quality
We work with every brand; for example Daitsu, Daikin, Mitsubishi Electric or Panasonic, choosing the unit by its heating efficiency and by the space there is for the outdoor unit.
