Heat pumps in Alcúdia,
for summer nights on the bay

We’re Joaquín and Juan. Summer in Alcúdia isn’t about extreme heat; it’s about warm, humid nights that stop you sleeping, and full houses that get through a lot of hot water. An air-to-water heat pump gives you cooling through fan coils or ducts, winter heating and hot water from one unit. We’re a RITE-registered thermal installer: survey, fitting, legalisation and the FACTOR paperwork. No subcontractors.

The figures

A mild, humid summer and a short winter

Alcúdia sits between the bays of Pollença and Alcúdia, with sea on both sides, and you can feel it in the air. In the typical meteorological year from PVGIS, the European Commission’s tool, the Alcúdia point averages 25.1 °C in July, its warmest month, and 24.1 °C from June to August: heat without extremes, but with average relative humidity in August around 73 %.

That kind of summer needs two things at once: cooling and drying the air, at night too. A fan coil or ducted unit run by the heat pump does both, because cooling the air condenses some of its moisture and drains it away. Underfloor heating stays for winter warmth. Cooling through the floor exists, but we don’t offer it in Mallorca: with the humidity here, a cold floor condenses.

Winter is short and mild: February, the coldest month of the typical year, averages 10.4 °C, and December to February 11.8 °C, the season when the heating runs. With air that mild the heat pump performs well. Output is sized from your home’s heat loads, as the RITE regulations require (IT 1.2.4.1.1).

Every home

From the walled town to Mal Pas-Bonaire

Inside and around the walls

Houses in the old town, by the walls and the Roman city of Pollentia, have small courtyards and façades best left untouched. The outdoor unit goes in the courtyard or on the roof terrace, out of sight and away from the neighbours’ windows, and indoors ceiling fan coils or ducts take up little space.

Flats in Port d'Alcúdia

Many have splits and an electric water heater. Moving to a heat pump with fan coils improves the hot water and removes humidity better, but in a block the outdoor unit’s position is agreed with the owners’ association. If you only want splits, see air conditioning in Alcúdia.

Villas in Alcanada, es Barcarès and Mal Pas-Bonaire

Houses with gardens and often a pool, close to the water. There we choose a model whose datasheet states marine-grade protection for the heat exchanger, place it with its back to the sea, and set servicing to the RITE schedule (IT 3.3, table 3.1) or, if the manufacturer asks for more, the manufacturer’s.

What we fit

Hot water for a full house, and the pool

A heat pump burns nothing: it moves heat. For example, the Daitsu Multi-Hybrid we fit has a COP of up to 4.24 and a seasonal SCOP of 3.72 (official Daitsu catalogue 2024-25): on average about 3.7 kWh of heat for every kWh of electricity. We work with all brands; that’s one example with its datasheet.

  • Hot water comes from the same unit and a cylinder (for example Daitsu’s HEATANK range), sized for the day the house is fullest, not the average.
  • The pool gets its own heat pump. The Daitsu Coral II, for example, is chosen by water volume, from the 18-35 m³ model to the 90-170 m³ one, works in ambient air from -2 °C to 40 °C and has a smart-grid function to heat when there’s spare solar.
  • With solar panels in Alcúdia, part of that electricity comes from your roof.

If the house is shut part of the year, we leave it programmed and controllable from your phone. More in our heat pump guide for Mallorca.

Grants and taxes

FACTOR 2026 and what Alcúdia’s bylaws say

The Balearic Government’s FACTOR 2026 call (BOIB no. 83, 2 July 2026) funds heat pumps at 70 % for private homeowners, counting at most €1,000 per kW of heat output, plus €450 if the distribution is new too, capped at €25,000. It requires Balearic domicile and a heat pump with an SPF above 2.5; splits are excluded in homes; work started from 1 January 2026 counts; and applications are handled first come, first served until 28 February 2027 or until funds run out.

If Alcúdia is your second home and you live abroad, domicile is what decides, and the BOIB doesn’t clarify the case of someone with an NIE and a supply contract here: we check it with you before you count on the grant.

At the town hall, Alcúdia’s IBI rebate (up to 50 % for 3 tax years, art. 7.5, BOIB 6/2025) is for solar use, and the ICIO has no rebate: a heat pump on its own gets no local tax break. We prepare the paperwork and, with your authorisation, file and justify the grant; the administration decides. All grants in renewable energy grants 2026.

Questions from Alcúdia

Frequently asked questions about heat pumps in Alcúdia

Will a heat pump give me air conditioning in summer in Alcúdia?

Yes. The same heat pump reverses its cycle and cools, spreading it through fan coils or ducts that also remove humidity: in Alcúdia, average August humidity is around 73 % according to PVGIS. Cooling through the floor exists, but we don’t offer it in Mallorca: with the humidity here, a cold floor condenses; underfloor heating is for winter.

If Alcúdia’s summer is mild, why do I need cooling?

Because of the humidity. In the PVGIS typical year July averages 25.1 °C in Alcúdia and average relative humidity in August is around 73 %: the air is heavy with moisture, at night too. A fan coil cools and dehumidifies at once, and that’s what lets you sleep in August.

My Alcúdia house is a second home. Can I apply for FACTOR 2026?

FACTOR 2026 (BOIB no. 83, 2 July 2026) requires private applicants to be domiciled in the Balearic Islands. If you live here, you qualify; if the Alcúdia house is a holiday home and you live abroad, most likely not, and the BOIB doesn’t clarify the case of an NIE holder with a supply here. We check first.

I have splits in my flat in Port d'Alcúdia. Is there a grant to replace them?

Not for new splits: FACTOR 2026 excludes air-to-air units in homes. The grant, 70 % on a ceiling of €1,000 per kW of heat output, is for air-to-water heat pumps with an SPF above 2.5. If you switch from splits to a heat pump with fan coils in Port d'Alcúdia, that does qualify.

Can the heat pump also heat the pool at my Alcúdia house?

A pool gets its own heat pump. For example, the Daitsu Coral II is chosen by water volume, from the 18-35 m³ model to the 90-170 m³ one, and works in ambient air from -2 °C to 40 °C (official Daitsu catalogue 2024-25). In Alcúdia, with July and August averaging around 25 °C, it performs very well.

Does Alcúdia town hall offer a tax break for heat pumps?

No. Alcúdia’s IBI bylaw rebates up to 50 % for 3 tax years on solar use (art. 7.5, BOIB 6/2025), and the ICIO has no rebate, so a heat pump on its own gets no local tax break. If you add solar panels, the IBI rebate is claimed for that part.

What temperature should I set the heating to in winter in Alcúdia?

According to the IDAE, each extra degree of heating raises consumption by about 7 %. At 21 °C you’re comfortable, 19-21 °C is enough by day and 15-17 °C in bedrooms. In Alcúdia, with its mild winter, the heating runs few hours a year.
