Solar panels in Mallorca
How self-consumption, batteries and surplus compensation work, in detail.

We are Joaquín and Juan. We install solar panels and self-consumption systems, with or without batteries, all over Alcúdia: the old town, Port d'Alcúdia, the bay and the country houses inland. For the home you live in all year, your second home or the one you let in the season. We are a licensed low-voltage installer: survey, installation, legalisation and the paperwork for grants.

Your area
PVGIS, the European Commission's tool, gives Alcúdia about 1,513 kWh a year per kWp installed, with panels at 35° facing south. A 3 kWp home system comes to about 4,500 kWh a year.
For a summer house the interesting figure is another one: from June to September each kWp produces about 597 kWh, close to 40% of the whole year, exactly when the house is full and the air conditioning and the pool draw power. The weakest month, November, at 89 kWh per kWp, gives 55% of July, the peak month (161 kWh).
If the house stays closed for months, what counts is the consumption while it is occupied, and in Alcúdia that coincides with the sunniest months. We leave the system visible in the inverter app, so you can see on your phone what it produces and what the house uses even when you are away.
On the bay front and in Port d'Alcúdia the air carries salt. That is why we fit aluminium mounting frames and stainless-steel fixings, which do not rust like ordinary steel.
Towards sa Pobla and Muro there is more room and less salt: tiled roof, roof terrace or ground-mounted frame. If the finca has no grid connection, an off-grid system with batteries is fitted, sized for the weakest month of the year.
Grants and local taxes
Alcúdia Town Council rebates up to 50% of the IBI property tax for 3 years on homes that install solar self-consumption. You apply before 31 March, and each year has a limit set by the bylaw itself (art. 7.5, BOIB no. 6 of 2025). On the ICIO building tax, Alcúdia has no rebate for solar panels.
| Municipality | IBI | ICIO |
|---|---|---|
| Alcúdia | up to 50%, 3 years, homes; apply before 31 March | none |
| Pollença | 50%, up to 3 years; apply before 31 March; each year at most 33% of the cost | 75% of the solar part |
| Muro | 50%, 3 years, urban land; at most 300 € a year and 33% of the cost | 50% of the solar part |
| sa Pobla | none | 50% of the solar budget |
The Balearic grant for home solar is FOTOPAR. The 2026 round closed on 30 April; the 2027 round takes applications from 26 January to 30 April 2027 or until funds run out, with 600 €/kWp up to 5 kWp and 420 €/kWh of battery. You must apply before work starts.
Careful if it is your second home: FOTOPAR and FACTOR require your home address in the Balearic Islands. If you live elsewhere, we check it with you before counting on the grant. We prepare the paperwork and, with your authorisation, file and justify the grant; you sign the application and the grant is paid into your bank account. The authorities decide whether it is awarded.

How we work
You send us photos and details by WhatsApp or email; with them we look at your roof or garden, your bills and the months you use the house, and tell you how much you will produce and save. If we need to see it, we come.
We fit panels, inverter and batteries if you want them, with materials for a marine environment, and legalise with Industry as a licensed low-voltage installer.
We prepare the paperwork and, with your authorisation, file and justify the grant; you sign the application and the grant is paid into your bank account. And we remind you to claim the IBI rebate before 31 March.

Common questions
According to the typical year calculated by PVGIS, the European Commission's tool, each kWp installed in Alcúdia at 35° facing south produces about 1,513 kWh a year. A 3 kWp home system comes to about 4,500 kWh a year. The peak month is July, at 161 kWh per kWp, and the weakest November, at 89 kWh.
In Alcúdia production is concentrated in the months of use: from June to September each kWp produces about 597 kWh, close to 40% of the year according to the typical year calculated by PVGIS, exactly when the air conditioning and pool are running. The system is sized on what you use in those months, not on the yearly average.
Up to 50% of the IBI property tax for 3 years on homes, with a yearly limit set by the bylaw; you apply before 31 March (art. 7.5 of the IBI bylaw, BOIB no. 6 of 2025). On the ICIO building tax Alcúdia has no rebate for solar panels (ICIO bylaw, BOIB no. 172 of 2015).
FOTOPAR and FACTOR require private individuals to have their home address in the Balearic Islands, so with a holiday home you probably do not qualify; we check it with you before counting on the grant. Income-tax deductions are for people who file a Spanish tax return: if you are taxed as a non-resident, ask your tax adviser. The Alcúdia IBI rebate, on the other hand, goes with the property.
The panels are built for the outdoors; what suffers from salt is the mounting frame and the fixings. That is why near the sea we fit aluminium frames and stainless-steel fixings, which do not rust like ordinary steel.
Yes, we work all over Mallorca. Each village has its own bylaw: Pollença rebates 50% of the IBI for up to 3 years and 75% of the solar ICIO; Muro, 50% of the IBI for 3 years (homes on urban land, at most 300 € a year) and 50% of the ICIO; sa Pobla has no IBI rebate but gives 50% off the ICIO on the solar budget. These are the bylaws in force in 2026, published in the BOIB.
