We are Joaquín and Juan. In Montuïri we install air-to-water heat pumps in village houses and on fincas on the plain: one heat pump that gives heating, hot water and, in summer, cooling, and lets you retire the oil boiler or the gas bottles. A licensed thermal installation company (RITE): study, installation, legalisation and grant, all done by us. We don't subcontract to anyone.

Your village
Montuïri is inland, far from the sea, which is what softens the winter on the coast. PVGIS, with data from 2005 to 2020, gives an average January temperature of 10.7 °C here, almost a degree less than in Palma (11.6 °C). It is not a harsh winter, but it is a long one, and the house feels it.
In a terraced house there is no room to spare. The indoor part of a heat pump, with its hot-water tank, takes up about as much space as a tall fridge and fits in a utility room or under the stairs. The outdoor unit goes in the back yard or on the flat roof terrace, on anti-vibration mounts, where it won't disturb the neighbours.
If the finca already has radiators and a boiler, the heat pump connects to the same circuit. The size of the radiators is checked, because a heat pump performs better the less hot the water has to be, and you can do away with the oil tank and its refills.
The Balearic Water Plan describes the Montuïri aquifer as having chlorides (330 mg/l on average) and sulphates (220 mg/l) of natural origin. If the house is supplied from a well, we ask for a water analysis before choosing the hot-water tank: each manufacturer states in its manual what water quality it accepts. More in our guide to well and cistern water.
In numbers
A boiler burns fuel and, at best, delivers the heat it burns. A heat pump burns nothing: it uses electricity to bring into the house the heat in the outside air, and that is why it delivers several times the energy it consumes. Each manufacturer declares how much on the unit's label (the SCOP, the average efficiency over the whole season).
That efficiency is better the milder the climate, and Montuïri's is mild: the Spanish Building Code places it in climate zone B3, that of Mallorca's low-lying areas (CTE DB-HE, annex B), with a January average of 10.7 °C according to PVGIS.
The rest is down to the thermostat. According to IDAE, each extra degree of heating raises consumption by around 7 %; 21 °C is comfortable and bedrooms need only 15 to 17 °C.
Grants
FACTOR 2026, from the Balearic Govern, pays a private individual 70 % of a heat pump. The calculation is based on a maximum of €1,000 per kWt of the unit's output, plus €450/kWt if new distribution is fitted (low-temperature radiators or underfloor heating), with a cap of €25,000 per installation (BOIB no. 83, 2 July 2026). Deadline: until 28 February 2027 or until the budget runs out.
Conditions worth knowing beforehand: the unit has to exceed a seasonal performance (SPF) of 2.5, air-to-air units in homes do not qualify and the grant requires a home address in the Balearic Islands.
Montuïri's construction tax (ICIO) rebate is for the solar installation, not for the heat pump. If you add panels, see solar panels in Montuïri.
If the energy certificates from before and after show the improvement the law requires, in your main home or in one you let, the income tax (IRPF) deduction for energy-efficiency works may apply (additional provision 50 of the Income Tax Act 35/2006; works until 31 December 2026). You claim the income tax (IRPF) deduction yourself in your Spanish tax return, with the invoices and certificates we give you.
We prepare the paperwork and, with your authorisation, submit the grant application and its justification; you sign the application and the grant is paid into your bank account. Whether it is awarded is up to the authorities.

How we work
Photos, floor areas, what heating there is and how much heating oil or butane you use a year. We calculate the output from the thermal loads of each room, as the RITE requires (IT 1.2.4.1.1).
We fit the outdoor unit, the indoor unit with its tank and the connection to radiators, underfloor heating or fan coils. We legalise it under the RITE.
With your authorisation we handle the FACTOR 2026 application. After that, the servicing required by the RITE (IT 3.3, table 3.1) or, if the manufacturer asks for more, by the manufacturer.
Common questions
A little: PVGIS (European Commission, 2005-2020 data) gives an average January temperature of 10.7 °C in Montuïri and 11.6 °C in Palma. For a heat pump it is a very favourable climate, because it performs better the milder the air. Montuïri is in climate zone B3 of the Spanish Building Code, and the output is calculated from your house's thermal loads, as the RITE requires (IT 1.2.4.1.1).
In many houses in Montuïri, yes. The heat pump connects to the circuit you already have; what is checked is whether the radiators give enough heat with water at a lower temperature, which is how a heat pump performs best. If one falls short, it is upsized or replaced with a low-temperature one. FACTOR 2026 adds €450/kWt to the eligible cost when the distribution is renewed.
The heating circuit is closed and is filled once with treated water, so there is no problem there. Domestic hot water, however, is water for human consumption: the Balearic Water Plan gives the Montuïri aquifer an average of 330 mg/l of chlorides and 220 mg/l of sulphates, of natural origin. That is why we test your water first and choose the tank according to what the manufacturer's manual allows.
For a private individual, 70 % of the cost, calculated on a maximum of €1,000/kWt of heating output (plus €450/kWt with new distribution) and capped at €25,000 per installation (BOIB no. 83, 2 July 2026). It can be applied for until 28 February 2027 or until the budget runs out. It requires an SPF above 2.5 and a home address in the Balearic Islands.
Yes, with fan coils or ducts connected to the same heat pump. Not through the floor: in Mallorca, given the humidity, condensation forms on a cold floor. Underfloor heating is used for heating, which is where it performs best, and summer cooling is distributed by air. In Montuïri, with July averaging 26.1 °C according to the PVGIS monthly series (European Commission, 2005-2020 averages), it is worth planning for from the start.
