Your village

Switching systems in a house in Maria de la Salut

In Maria de la Salut there are village houses heated the traditional way and country houses used only part of the year. The switch to a heat pump doesn't start with the machine: it starts with seeing what is there.

What is kept

If there are radiators and pipes in good condition, they stay. The heat pump takes the boiler's place, or goes outside, and connects to the same circuit. We check radiator by radiator that they give enough heat with cooler water; any that falls short is replaced.

What goes

The oil tank, the boiler flue and the gas bottles. The house gains a room and stops depending on the delivery lorry. The hot water moves to a tank heated by the same heat pump.

Weekend houses

A house that spends days closed up needs to warm up before you arrive and to use nothing while it is empty. The heat pump is programmed and operated from your phone; hot water is prepared only when it is needed.

In numbers

Why it uses less than a boiler

The difference lies in where the heat comes from. A boiler gets it from the fuel it burns, and can never give more than it burns. A heat pump collects it from the outside air and raises its temperature with an electric compressor: the result is several kWh of heat for every kWh of electricity, according to the SCOP each unit declares.

The climate helps. Maria de la Salut, at around 110 metres, is in climate zone B3 of the Spanish Building Code (CTE DB-HE, annex B), and PVGIS gives it an average January temperature of 10.8 °C. The air the machine draws its heat from is rarely very cold.

And the part that depends on you: according to IDAE, each degree you turn the heating up is around 7 % more consumption. With 21 °C in the living areas and 15 to 17 °C in the bedrooms, you will be comfortable.

Grants

Grants for replacing the boiler in Maria de la Salut

Replacing a boiler with a heat pump qualifies for FACTOR 2026, the Balearic Govern's call. For a private individual it covers 70 %, taking as its basis a cost of €1,000/kWt at most, which rises by €450/kWt when the radiators are also changed or underfloor heating is fitted. The grant never exceeds €25,000 per installation (BOIB no. 83, 2 July 2026).

There is time until 28 February 2027, but the budget is allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. You need a home address in the Balearic Islands and a unit with an SPF above 2.5; air-to-air units in homes are excluded.

If the energy certificates from before and after show the improvement the law requires, in your main home or in one you let, the income tax (IRPF) deduction for energy-efficiency works may apply (additional provision 50 of the Income Tax Act 35/2006; works until 31 December 2026). You claim the income tax (IRPF) deduction yourself in your Spanish tax return, with the invoices and certificates we give you.

We prepare the paperwork and, with your authorisation, submit the grant application and its justification; you sign the application and the grant is paid into your bank account. Whether it is awarded is up to the authorities.

How we work

Your heat pump in Maria de la Salut, step by step

1

What you have now

Photos of the boiler, the radiators and the room, and what you spend a year on heating oil or butane. We calculate the thermal loads, as the RITE requires (IT 1.2.4.1.1).

2

The swap

We remove the boiler, install the heat pump and its tank, adjust the radiators and leave the installation legalised.

3

The grant

With your authorisation we submit the FACTOR 2026 application and its justification. Servicing: as required by the RITE (IT 3.3, table 3.1) or, if the manufacturer asks for more, by the manufacturer.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions about heat pumps in Maria de la Salut

Can I replace the oil boiler with a heat pump without changing the radiators?

In the houses in Maria de la Salut that already have radiators, often yes. The heat pump connects to the existing circuit and we check whether each radiator heats enough with water at a lower temperature, which is how a heat pump performs best. Those that fall short are replaced with low-temperature radiators or fan coils. If you renew the distribution, FACTOR 2026 adds €450/kWt to the eligible cost.

Does a heat pump work well in winter in Maria de la Salut?

Yes. Maria de la Salut is in climate zone B3 of the Spanish Building Code, and PVGIS (2005-2020 data) gives a January average of 10.8 °C. As an example, Daitsu's official 2024-25 catalogue states that its Multi-Hybrid works from −15 °C. On cold, damp mornings, the outdoor unit runs defrost cycles: a normal function, described in manufacturers' manuals, not a fault.

What happens to the oil tank when I install a heat pump?

It is no longer needed and is removed, as is the boiler flue. In its place goes a hot-water tank heated by the heat pump. In a house in Maria de la Salut that usually gives you back a whole room and puts an end to refills. The new installation is legalised under the RITE.

How much does the FACTOR 2026 grant cover for a heat pump?

70 % for private individuals, calculated on a maximum of €1,000/kWt of heating output, or €450/kWt more if the distribution is also changed, and with a limit of €25,000 per installation (BOIB no. 83, 2 July 2026). It is awarded on a first-come, first-served basis until 28 February 2027. It requires a home address in the Balearic Islands.

I only use the house part of the year: is a heat pump right for me?

Yes, if you want to arrive and find it warm. The heat pump is programmed and controlled from your phone, and can keep the house at a minimum temperature. IDAE advises turning the thermostat down to 15 °C when you are away, and counts around 7 % of consumption for each degree.
