Heating in winter
Gentle, even warmth through underfloor heating, fan coils or low-temperature radiators. No spikes, no noise and no flame.
Heat pumps · Simple guide
We're Joaquín and Juan, and we've been fitting climate systems across Mallorca since 1998. A heat pump (aerotermia) sounds high-tech, but the idea is simple: it pulls energy out of the air to give you heating, cooling and hot water from one unit, using far less than gas or oil. Here we explain it the way we'd explain it to a neighbour — and tell you whether it fits your home.

The essentials
A heat pump moves energy from one place to another instead of burning fuel. In winter it draws heat out of the outdoor air —even when it's cold— and brings it into your home; in summer it does the opposite and takes the heat out. Because it uses free energy from the air, for every unit of electricity it consumes it delivers several of heat or cooling. That's why it costs far less to run than a gas or oil boiler — and it's renewable energy too.
A single unit
Gentle, even warmth through underfloor heating, fan coils or low-temperature radiators. No spikes, no noise and no flame.
The same machine reverses the cycle and cools the home. A 3-in-1 system that replaces your separate gas and air-con units.
It produces the home's domestic hot water with the same unit, at the same high efficiency.
It thrives here
The island's climate plays in your favour: winters are mild, so the heat pump almost never has to strain and works in its peak-efficiency range for most of the year. It's one of the areas in Spain where this system gets the most out of every euro of electricity. And with Mallorca's sunshine, the perfect combination is to add solar panels: the heat pump runs on the electricity your panels produce, and much of its consumption becomes free.
And in your home?
In new builds it's almost always the best option. In refurbishments we can often reuse what you already have (radiators or underfloor heating) and change only the unit. The honest answer is to look at it case by case: we come out, take measurements, size the power for your home and tell you what genuinely fits —without overselling. The visit and the quote are done in person by Joaquín or Juan, and the installation is carried out by our own team. As a RITE-certified company, we also legalise it with the authority.
Common questions
Yes. The same heat pump reverses its cycle and cools the home in summer, whether through underfloor cooling, fan coils or ducts. That's why we call it a 3-in-1 system: heating, cooling and hot water from a single unit.
Mallorca's mild climate is ideal for a heat pump: winters are not extreme, so the heat pump works in its peak-efficiency range almost all year. It is one of the areas in Spain where this system performs best.
It is not mandatory. A heat pump works with underfloor heating (the most comfortable and efficient option), with fan coils or with low-temperature radiators. In refurbishments we can also reuse the existing installation. We advise you according to your home in the survey, which is free.
It depends on your home and your usage, but replacing a gas or oil boiler usually brings a notable saving on heating and hot water, because the heat pump uses free energy from the air. If you also pair it with solar panels, much of its electricity consumption is free too. We work out the figures for your case.
Yes. The FACTOR 2026 call from the Balearic Government subsidises heat pumps for individuals (70% for private homeowners), and you can add the income-tax (IRPF) deduction for improving your home's energy efficiency. We prepare and file all the paperwork for you; the award, however, depends on the administration.
