Heat pumps in Esporles,
for a cool valley.

We are Joaquín and Juan. In Esporles we install air-to-water heat pumps in stone houses in the village, in s'Esgleieta and on fincas across the municipality: one heat pump for heating, hot water and cooling. In a valley with little winter sun, the house warms up very little by itself and the heating matters. We are a RITE-registered heating and cooling installer (RITE = Spain's building services regulations): we handle everything ourselves, and we don't subcontract anyone.

Esporles: little winter sun, more heating

The village is at 178 m according to AEMET, below 250 m, in climate zone B3 of the Spanish Building Code (CTE DB-HE, Annex B), the same as Palma. But the valley gets less sun in winter: for December, PVGIS gives 16% less solar output than in Palma. The house gains less heat through its windows and the heating runs for more hours.

Stone houses in the village

Thick walls, few windows and damp on the ground floors. A gentle, steady heat, with low-temperature radiators or underfloor heating, keeps the house dry and warm. The outdoor unit goes in a courtyard or on a terrace, sheltered from the water that runs down the hillside.

A unit that sits entirely outside

In houses with little room indoors, a monobloc heat pump is a good option: the whole refrigerant circuit is in the outdoor unit and only two water pipes come into the house. For example, the Daitsu Monobloc Logik II, which according to its catalogue heats domestic hot water up to 60 °C and has an anti-legionella function.

Fincas with heating oil or firewood

On the fincas of the municipality, the heat pump replaces the oil boiler and also provides the hot water. The fireplace or the stove can stay as back-up. Inside the Natural Area (Paraje Natural), the outdoor unit is placed where it shows least.

In numbers

Where the saving is with a heat pump in Esporles

The seasonal efficiency of a heat pump is its SCOP. As a reference, the Daitsu Aerotermia 24-25 catalogue gives the Monobloc Logik II range a SCOP of between 4.49 and 5.07 depending on the model: more than four kWh of heat for every kWh of electricity. With heating oil or butane, each unit of heat comes from one unit of fuel. It is an example: we work with every brand.

In a damp house, heating properly also means drying it out. And the thermostat counts: according to the IDAE, each extra degree raises consumption by around 7%; comfort is at 21 °C and in bedrooms 15-17 °C is enough.

Grants

Grants for heat pumps in Esporles

With FACTOR 2026, a private individual receives 70% of the cost of the heat pump, counting up to €1,000 per kWt of the unit and a further €450/kWt if new distribution is installed; the cap is €25,000 per installation. The deadline is 28 February 2027, in order of arrival. It requires an SPF above 2.5 and a home address in the Balearic Islands, and it leaves out air-to-air units in homes.

Esporles's ICIO rebate is for the solar installation. If you are putting in panels, see solar panels in Esporles.

If the works improve the home's efficiency and this is certified, the income-tax (IRPF) deduction for energy efficiency may apply (works up to 31 December 2026). Income-tax (IRPF) deductions are claimed by you in your Spanish tax return, using the invoices and certificates we hand over.

We prepare the paperwork and, with your authorisation, file and justify the grant; you sign the application and the grant is paid into your bank account. The authorities decide whether it is awarded.

How we work

How we do it in Esporles, in 3 steps

1

The house and its damp

We look at what the house is like, what heating it has and how much hot water is used, and we calculate the output from the thermal loads of each room (heat-load calculation), as the RITE requires.

2

Installation

We fit the heat pump, connect radiators, underfloor heating or fan coils and legalise it under the RITE. Servicing: what the RITE sets or, if the manufacturer asks for more, the manufacturer's.

3

FACTOR 2026

With your authorisation we file and justify the grant; you sign and the money arrives in your account.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions about heat pumps in Esporles

Why does heating cost more in Esporles than in Palma, if it is the same climate zone?

Because the Building Code's climate zone only looks at altitude: Esporles, at 178 m according to AEMET, is B3 like Palma (CTE DB-HE, Annex B). But the valley gets less sun in winter: for December, PVGIS gives 16% less solar output than in Palma. The house warms up less by itself. That is why the output is calculated from the thermal loads of each house, as the RITE requires.

Which heat pump suits a village house with little room?

A monobloc usually fits: the whole refrigerant side goes in the outdoor unit and indoors you only need the hot water cylinder. As an example, the Daitsu Monobloc Logik II range has, according to its 24-25 catalogue, a SCOP of 4.49 to 5.07 and delivers water at up to 60 °C for the hot water. We work with every brand. In the village houses of Esporles, with little room indoors, it is the first thing we look at.

My house in Esporles is damp: does a heat pump help?

What helps is continuous, gentle heating, which is how a heat pump works best: the house never cools right down and the walls dry out. In summer, fan coils or ducts remove moisture as they cool. Underfloor heating is used for heating only: a cold floor, with Mallorca's humidity, causes condensation. The IDAE puts comfort at 21 °C.

How much does FACTOR 2026 cover for a heat pump in Esporles?

70% for private individuals, with a maximum of €1,000/kWt of heat pump output plus €450/kWt if there is new distribution, and a cap of €25,000 per installation (BOIB no. 83 of 2-7-2026). It can be applied for until 28 February 2027. It requires a home address in the Balearic Islands and an SPF above 2.5.

Do you need very hot water to prevent legionella?

The hot water cylinder has to be able to raise its temperature periodically. Heat pumps deal with this through a programmed cycle: the Daitsu Monobloc Logik II, for example, has an anti-legionella function and delivers water at up to 60 °C according to its catalogue. We leave it programmed at commissioning. In a house in Esporles that stays closed for days, that cycle is what looks after the water.

Where does the outdoor unit go in a house in the valley?

In a courtyard, on a terrace or by the rear wall, on a base that lifts it off the ground and with a drain for the defrost water, which in a damp valley is common in winter. Noise is limited by Act 1/2007 on noise pollution in the Balearic Islands.
