Heat pumps · Sineu

Heat pumps in Sineu,
gentle heat for stone houses.

We are Joaquín and Juan. In Sineu we install air-to-water heat pumps in houses in the old town and on fincas: heating, hot water and cooling from a single heat pump, in place of heating oil or bottled gas. We are a RITE-registered thermal installer: we calculate it, install it, legalise it and handle the grant. We don't subcontract anyone.

Sineu: the place for the outdoor unit comes first

In the old town of Sineu the houses are joined to one another and the streets are narrow. Before talking about outputs we have to settle where the heat pump's outdoor unit goes: where it can breathe, can't be heard and can't be seen from the street.

Terraced houses

The usual place is the back yard, an inner courtyard or the flat roof. The outdoor unit needs open air around it and a drain for the defrost water. The hot water tank and the indoor module go in a small room, a utility room or under the stairs.

Fincas across the municipality

In the countryside there is room: the outdoor unit is kept away from the bedrooms and sheltered from the wind, and if the finca has solar panels, the heat pump works in the daytime on that electricity and stores the heat in the tank.

Winter in the centre of the island

Sineu sits at around 140 metres. PVGIS (ERA5, 2011-2020) gives a mean January minimum of 8.2 °C, close to a degree and a half below Palma (9.6 °C). It isn't mountain cold, but the nights call for heating for more months than on the coast.

In numbers

Where a heat pump saves in Sineu

The saving comes from efficiency. As a manufacturer's reference, the Daitsu Multi-Hybrid declares a SCOP of 3.72 in its official 2024-25 catalogue: almost four units of heat for every one of electricity over the season. An oil boiler delivers, at most, what it burns. It's an example: we work with every brand.

Sineu is in climate zone B3 of the Spanish Building Code (up to 250 m in the Balearics; CTE DB-HE, annex B). The heat pump is sized from the house's thermal loads, as the RITE requires, and performs better with lukewarm water: underfloor heating or generously sized radiators. According to IDAE, each extra degree on the thermostat means around 7% more consumption; 21 °C is comfortable.

Grants

Heat pump grants in Sineu

The grant open for replacing a boiler with a heat pump is FACTOR 2026: 70% for a private individual, on a module of up to €1,000/kWt of heating output (€450/kWt more with new emitters or distribution) and a ceiling of €25,000 per installation. Applications are dealt with in order of receipt until 28 February 2027. Requirements: an SPF above 2.5, a home address in the Balearic Islands and that it is not air-to-air in a home.

If the work improves the home's energy efficiency and is certified, the energy-efficiency income-tax deduction may apply (works until 31 December 2026). Income-tax (IRPF) deductions are claimed by you in your Spanish tax return, using the invoices and certificates we hand over.

Are you going to fit photovoltaics too? See solar panels in Sineu.

We prepare the paperwork and, with your authorisation, submit the grant application and, afterwards, the proof of expenditure; you sign the application and the grant is paid into your bank account. The authorities decide whether it is awarded.

How we work

How we do it in Sineu, in 3 steps

1

Where everything goes

From photos of the house we see where the outdoor unit, the tank and the pipe run fit, and we calculate the output from the thermal loads, as the RITE requires.

2

Installation and legalisation

We install the heat pump, connect it to your radiators, the underfloor heating or fan coils, and legalise it under the RITE. Servicing: as the RITE sets or, if the manufacturer asks for more, as the manufacturer says.

3

FACTOR paperwork

If your home address is in the Balearic Islands, with your authorisation we submit the application and the proof of expenditure; you sign and the grant is paid into your account.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions about heat pumps in Sineu

Where do I put the heat pump's outdoor unit in a house in the centre of Sineu?

In the back yard, in a courtyard or on the flat roof: it needs open air around it and a drain. The street façade is avoided, and the noise has to comply with the Balearic Noise Act 1/2007. If the house is listed, we check first what Sineu Town Council requires.

Does it take a lot of output to heat a house in Sineu?

Whatever comes out of calculating your house's thermal loads, as the RITE requires: it depends on the walls, the windows and the floor area, not on a table. Sineu is in climate zone B3 of the Spanish Building Code, like Palma, although its January nights are colder: a mean minimum of 8.2 °C against Palma's 9.6 °C, according to PVGIS (ERA5, 2011-2020).

What does a heat pump save against heating oil in Sineu?

The efficiency saving: for example, the Daitsu Multi-Hybrid declares a SCOP of 3.72 in its official 2024-25 catalogue, about 3.7 kWh of heat for every kWh of electricity. And the saving from use: IDAE reckons around 7% of consumption for each degree on the thermostat. In Sineu, with a mean January minimum of 8.2 °C according to PVGIS (ERA5, 2011-2020), that degree counts on a lot of nights.

How much does FACTOR 2026 give for a heat pump in Sineu?

70% to a private individual, on a module of up to €1,000/kWt (€450/kWt more with new distribution) and with a ceiling of €25,000 per installation (BOIB no. 83 of 2-7-2026). You can apply until 28 February 2027, in order of receipt. It requires an SPF above 2.5 and a home address in the Balearic Islands.

Can a heat pump also provide cooling in summer?

Yes, with fan coils, ducts or splits connected to the same heat pump. Cooling through the floor? It exists, but in Mallorca we don't offer it: here, with the humidity, a cold floor condenses. In Sineu, where mean August maximums are around 31 °C according to PVGIS (ERA5), a few fan coils in the main rooms are usually enough.

I have solar panels on the finca: do they go well with a heat pump?

Very well. The heat pump can heat the hot water tank and the house in the sunny hours and use less at night. In Sineu the panels give about 97 kWh per kWp in December according to PVGIS: part of the heating comes from your roof.
