Solar panels in Sineu,
in the centre of the island.

In Sineu we install solar panels and self-consumption, with or without batteries, on houses in the old town and on fincas across the municipality. We are an authorised low-voltage electrical installer: we do the study, the installation and the legalisation, and handle the grant paperwork, with no middlemen.

Sineu: village roofs and country houses

Sineu sits at around 140 metres, in the middle of the Pla. Of its 4,552 residents, 740 live in country houses outside the village, according to INE's Nomenclátor (2025). In the old town the roof and the heritage catalogue decide; in the countryside, the finca's consumption.

Houses in the old town

The houses in the centre, around the church and the market square, have pitched tiled roofs and often a courtyard or back yard behind. The panels go on the pitch that faces south, flush with the tiles. Before proposing anything we check whether the house is listed.

Fincas across the municipality

A country house usually has a porch, an outbuilding or a piece of land where the panels work at the right tilt. There the system is sized by consumption: well pump, pool, well or cistern water and, more and more, the electric car.

With a battery or without

In Sineu, December gives 97 kWh per kWp and July 157, according to PVGIS. If you use power mostly in the daytime, the usual thing is to start without a battery; if the house fills up in the afternoon and evening, the battery stores what is left over at midday. We decide it with your consumption curve, not by eye.

In numbers

What a solar panel produces in Sineu (in numbers)

PVGIS, from the European Commission (query of 1 Oct 2026, 35° south, 14% losses), gives Sineu about 1,540 kWh a year for each kWp. Palma gives 1,572: 2% more, nothing that changes the sums. With 3 kWp that comes to about 4,620 kWh a year.

For an island, output is fairly even across the year: 157 kWh per kWp in July and 97 in December, 62% of the summer figure. With no mountain range around, the horizon takes no output away.

What you save is what you stop buying from the grid. A system well matched to your consumption is put to better use than a big one that exports almost everything.

Grants

Grants and local taxes in Sineu

IBI and ICIO: Sineu's IBI (property tax) bylaw published in the BOIB (art. 6, BOIB no. 12 of 24-01-2015) provides no rebate for solar energy. For the building-works tax (ICIO) we have not found a bylaw that has one: we'll check it at the Town Council for you before you decide.

FOTOPAR 2027 opens from 26 January to 30 April 2027 or until its €2 million run out (the 2026 call closed on 30 April 2026); you have to apply before work starts and have a home address in the Balearic Islands. FACTOR 2026 pays 45% of the batteries until 28 February 2027, but not a private individual's panels. They cannot be combined for the same thing.

If the system is paid for and finished in 2026, the self-consumption income-tax deduction (DA 62ª) is 10%, up to €500. Income-tax (IRPF) deductions are claimed by you in your Spanish tax return, using the invoices and certificates we hand over.

We prepare the paperwork and, with your authorisation, submit the grant application and, afterwards, the proof of expenditure; you sign the application and the grant is paid into your bank account. The authorities decide whether it is awarded.

How we work

How we do it in Sineu, in 3 steps

1

Your consumption and your roof

With an electricity bill, photos and the location we run PVGIS for your house in Sineu and see how much of your consumption the panels cover.

2

Permits and installation

We check the municipal heritage catalogue if the house is in the old town, file the prior notification and install on a frame designed for wind.

3

Legalisation and grants

We legalise the self-consumption (RD 244/2019) with the electrical installation certificate and, with your authorisation, file whichever grant is open.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions about solar panels in Sineu

How much does a solar installation produce in Sineu?

According to PVGIS (European Commission, 35° south, 14% losses), about 1,540 kWh a year for each kWp installed in Sineu, 2% less than Palma. July comes to about 157 kWh per kWp and December 97. A 3 kWp system gives around 4,620 kWh a year.

Is there an IBI or ICIO rebate for solar panels in Sineu?

Sineu's IBI bylaw published in the BOIB (art. 6, BOIB no. 12 of 24-01-2015) has no solar rebate, and for the ICIO we have not found one. We'll check it at the Town Council for you before you decide. What may apply is the self-consumption income-tax deduction, if the work is paid for and finished in 2026, and FACTOR 2026 for the batteries.

My house is in the centre of Sineu: can I put panels on the roof?

Usually, yes. In the Balearic Islands panels on a roof only need a prior notification (Balearic Planning Act 12/2017, arts. 148.4 and 153.1.e); if the building is listed or a Site of Cultural Interest a licence is needed. In the old town of Sineu we check the municipal heritage catalogue before quoting and fit the panels flush with the tiles.

Is a battery worth it in Sineu?

It depends on when you use power. In Sineu the panels give about 157 kWh per kWp in July and 97 in December (PVGIS); if you consume in the daytime, the battery adds little. If the house is used mostly in the afternoon and evening, it does. FACTOR 2026 subsidises 45% of the batteries until 28 February 2027, with a home address in the Balearic Islands.

I have a country house in Sineu with no grid connection: what do I need?

An off-grid system: panels, inverter and batteries sized for December, which in Sineu gives 97 kWh per kWp according to PVGIS. The Balearic Climate Change Act 10/2019 allows self-consumption in lawful buildings on rural land, and if you apply for a grant you must prove the site is lawful.

Who signs the paperwork for a solar installation in Sineu?

We do, as an authorised low-voltage electrical installer: the electrical installation certificate and the registration of the self-consumption under RD 244/2019 on the Balearic Government's e-office. We hand you the documents the grants and Sineu Town Council ask for.
