I have a farm out in the country with a well and a huge pumping bill. Is it worth it?
Very much so. Well pumping is one of the biggest costs on a farm, and it can be covered with direct solar pumping: the panels run the pump while the sun is up, with hardly any bill. If you need to irrigate or treat water at night too, we add batteries. On remote farms in the Felanitx countryside it makes the biggest difference, because sometimes the mains supply out there is poor. And the real figures for your area, which is what decides whether it is worth it: according to the typical year calculated by PVGIS, the official tool of the European Commission, in Felanitx every kWp installed yields around 1,557 kWh a year at 35º facing south, so a domestic 3 kWp system is in the region of 4,700 kWh a year. In the worst month of the year it still delivers 59 % of what it gives in the best: the winter here does not switch the system off, which is what surprises people coming from northern Europe the most.
Can I fit panels on a working agrotourism property?
It's the ideal setting. At an agrotourism, the guests' use —pool, hot water, climate control, kitchen— lines up with the summer daylight hours, exactly when the house is full. We size the panels to cover that daytime load, so you cut the bill right in high season. It's also one more sustainability selling point for your Pla i Llevant property.
My Portocolom house is shut over winter. Does this still work?
Yes. For a second or holiday home we fit batteries and online monitoring, so the energy you produce while you're away isn't wasted and the house stays protected (alarm, fridge, pumps) 365 days a year. You control it from your phone whether you're in Mallorca or back home, and any surplus is fed to the grid with a credit on your bill.
Do you handle the grants and the IBI property tax rebate in Felanitx?
Yes. With your authorisation, we handle self-consumption grants when there is an open call; for the IBI property tax rebate under the bylaw of the Ajuntament de Felanitx we prepare the paperwork and you file it; the income-tax deduction is claimed by you in your tax return, using the invoices and certificates we hand over. My house is an old stone building. Will the panels show?
We take care of the looks.
