Solar panels in Mallorca
How self-consumption, batteries and payback work, in detail.

Cala Ratjada and Capdepera sit at the eastern tip of the island, where Mallorca's first sun arrives earliest and the sea wind never stops. We install solar panels and self-consumption systems, with or without batteries, in the village, the harbour, Font de sa Cala, Canyamel and Cala Mesquida. We are an authorised low-voltage electrical installer: survey, installation, legalisation and grants, with no middlemen.

Your area
The municipality of Capdepera brings together an inland village below the castle, a fishing harbour turned resort and coastal developments such as Font de sa Cala or Canyamel. Each is installed differently.
Cala Ratjada faces the sea on three sides, and the Cap de Capdepera is the easternmost point of Mallorca. There the frame is calculated for wind under the Spanish Building Code (CTE DB SE-AE), and the panels have the IEC 61701 salt-mist test on their datasheet. Before choosing a brand we read its manual: each manufacturer states how close to the sea, and with what mounting, the warranty still applies.
The Castell de Capdepera is a Bien de Interés Cultural (BIC), as all castles are (Spanish Heritage Act 16/1985, second additional provision). If your house is within its protected surroundings, any works, solar panels included, first need the authorisation of the Island Heritage Commission (Balearic Heritage Act 12/1998, art. 37). We check this before designing and, if it applies, fit flush panels that are as unobtrusive as possible.
In Font de sa Cala, Canyamel or Cala Mesquida many houses stand empty for months. There it pays to have a system that produces for the season, covers the minimum consumption of the closed house and that you can monitor from your phone.
In numbers
According to PVGIS (European Commission, queried on 7 October 2026, 35° south, 14 % losses), each kWp yields about 1,521 kWh a year in Cala Ratjada and 1,530 in Capdepera, against 1,598 in Palma. A 3 kWp system in the harbour comes to around 4,560 kWh a year.
What sets this headland apart is winter: in December Cala Ratjada gives only 52 % of what July produces (Capdepera, 52 %). In Porto Cristo it's 57 % and in Palma, 61 %. If the house is used in winter or you want batteries, the system is sized for December, not the average.
The saving lies in what you use while you produce. That's why we first look at your bills for the whole year and at what times you use electricity.
Grants
IBI (property tax): Capdepera's bylaw gives a 50 % IBI rebate for 3 tax years for installing solar energy, provided the home meets the efficiency measures set out in the same article (art. 6.2, BOIB no. 165 of 2022). We prepare the technical documents they ask for.
ICIO (building-works tax): Capdepera's bylaw for this tax, rewritten in 2026 (BOIB no. 108 of 2026), includes no rebate for solar panels.
FOTOPAR 2027 opens from 26 January to 30 April 2027; you must apply before the work starts and it requires domicile in the Balearic Islands. Batteries can go through FACTOR 2026 (45 %, open until 28 February 2027), but not both grants for the same thing.
If it is paid for and finished in 2026, the income-tax deduction for self-consumption (DA 62ª) is 10 %, up to €500. Income-tax (IRPF) deductions are claimed by you in your Spanish tax return, using the invoices and certificates we hand over.
We prepare the paperwork and, with your authorisation, file and justify the grant; you sign the application and the grant is paid into your bank account. The authorities decide whether it is awarded.

How we work
With your bills and photos of the roof we work out what fits, what it produces according to the typical year calculated by PVGIS on your street and whether the house is within the castle's protected surroundings.
A frame calculated for wind, materials for a marine environment and legalisation of the self-consumption system (RD 244/2019) with the electrical installation certificate.
We prepare the paperwork for Capdepera's IBI rebate and, with your authorisation, whichever grant is open.

Common questions
According to the typical year calculated by PVGIS (European Commission, queried on 7 October 2026), in Cala Ratjada the worst month, December, gives 52 % of July, and in Capdepera also 52 %, against 57 % in Porto Cristo and 61 % in Palma with the same calculation. Over the year, 1,521 kWh per kWp, 5 % less than Palma. If the house is used in winter or you have batteries, the system is sized for December.
Yes. Capdepera's bylaw gives a 50 % IBI rebate for 3 tax years for installing solar energy, provided the home meets the efficiency measures the article requires (art. 6.2, BOIB no. 165 of 2022). The building-works tax (ICIO), rewritten in 2026, has no rebate for solar panels. It applies to Cala Ratjada, Font de sa Cala, Canyamel and the whole municipality.
Most likely yes, but with permission. The Castell de Capdepera is a Bien de Interés Cultural, like every castle in Spain (Spanish Heritage Act 16/1985, second additional provision), and the Balearic Heritage Act 12/1998 (art. 37) requires authorisation from the Island Heritage Commission before the licence for any works on the monument or within its protected surroundings. We check it first and design flush, discreet panels.
Yes, if they're installed for it. In Cala Ratjada harbour the frame is calculated for wind under the Spanish Building Code (CTE DB SE-AE), the fixings are stainless steel and we ask for panels with the IEC 61701 salt-mist test. We also read the manufacturer's manual, which states how close to the sea the warranty still applies.
FOTOPAR 2027 opens from 26 January to 30 April 2027 (BOIB no. 171 of 25-12-2025), with a budget of €2,000,000 for the whole of the Balearics; you must apply before the work starts and it requires individuals to be domiciled in the Balearic Islands. With a holiday home in Font de sa Cala you may not qualify: tell us your case before you plan the timing.
We do. We are an authorised low-voltage electrical installer: we sign the electrical installation certificate and register the self-consumption system under RD 244/2019 with the Govern de les Illes Balears, in Cala Ratjada and throughout Capdepera. These are the papers the IBI rebate and the grants ask for later.
Quality
We work with every brand; for example JA Solar or LONGi panels, Fronius or GoodWe inverters and BYD or Pylontech batteries, checking their datasheet for marine environments.

Send us an electricity bill and photos of the roof and we'll tell you what you'd produce. Itemised quote.
