In the Santanyí old town the golden marès stone and the village's careful look set the tone. We mind the image: we fit the panels on the least visible roof pitch from the street, use black-frame or full black panels and keep the cabling hidden. I have a marès house in the old town. Will it look ugly with panels?
We take great care of the looks in the Santanyí old town, where the golden marès stone and the village charm set the tone. We go for the roof pitch that's least visible from the street, use black-frame or full black panels and keep the cabling hidden. The installation performs without spoiling the character of your marès house.
My villa in Cala Figuera sits empty half the year. Is it worth it?
Absolutely. In a second home we fit batteries so the energy you produce while you're away isn't wasted, and the house stays protected (alarm, fridge, pumps) 365 days a year. We leave the installation with monitoring so you can check it from your phone whether you're in Mallorca or back home, and whatever surplus you don't use is fed to the grid with a credit on your bill. And the real figures for your area, which is what decides whether it is worth it: according to the typical year calculated by PVGIS, the official tool of the European Commission, in Santanyí every kWp installed yields around 1,614 kWh a year at 35º facing south, so a domestic 3 kWp system is in the region of 4,800 kWh a year. In the worst month of the year it still delivers 58 % of what it gives in the best: the winter here does not switch the system off, which is what surprises people coming from northern Europe the most.
Do you handle the grants and the IBI property tax rebate in Santanyí?
Yes. With your authorisation, we handle self-consumption grants when there's an open call; the income-tax deduction is claimed by you in your tax return, using the invoices and certificates we hand over. On the IBI we go step by step: we check the tax bylaw currently in force at the Ajuntament de Santanyí and, if it provides a rebate for solar self-consumption and the property meets the requirements, we prepare the technical documents. We check which grants are active and apply to you. Approval depends on each call and on meeting the requirements. The installation is legalised as self-consumption under Spanish RD 244/2019 and registered with the electronic office of the Govern de les Illes Balears.
