Santanyí: houses closed for months and fincas with sun to spare

In Santanyí and its coves there are many houses owned by Germans and Scandinavians who come for part of the year, and more and more of them have an electric car. And inland, fincas where the house, the well pump and the car share one supply connection.

Marès sandstone houses in the village

In the old centre, the car goes into the garage or the courtyard. We take care that the line cannot be seen: the cable runs inside and the charger goes on the least visible wall. It is an additional circuit from the home's consumer unit, with its 30 mA RCD and its overvoltage protection.

Villas in Cala Figuera, Cala Santanyí and es Llombards

A house closed half the year needs a charger that gives no trouble: locked while you are away, on a schedule and visible in the app. If you arrive in a hire car, you plug in with the type 2 cable and it charges on the rule you left set.

Inland fincas and those around Mondragó

At a finca, the charger lives alongside the well pump and the irrigation. A unit that measures total consumption stops the power limiter tripping when they coincide. And with panels, the car is the ideal place for the midday surplus.

Where you save

Where the saving is in a Santanyí home

In a seasonal home, the saving is in not raising the contracted power, which is paid for all twelve months even if the car charges for six weeks. The charger with dynamic load management adjusts to the power you already have.

In the south of Mallorca the panels produce a lot in summer, just when the house is occupied. Charging on the surplus makes sense because RD 244/2019 limits the compensation to the value of the electricity you buy that month: anything beyond that earns nothing, and in the car it is put to use.

Without panels, the 2.0TD off-peak period: midnight to 8 am Monday to Friday and the whole weekend (CNMC Circular 3/2020).

Rules and grants

Regulations and grants for your charger in Santanyí

If you live abroad: the FACTOR grant requires you to be domiciled in the Balearic Islands, and the Spanish income tax (IRPF) deduction is for those who pay that tax in Spain. We do not take it for granted at any holiday home: we check it with you. What does apply to everyone is the installation certificate registered with the Balearic industry department.

If you live here: FACTOR 2026 covers 70% of the charging point, capped at €2,500 per installation for individuals, until 28 February 2027 while funds last. We prepare the paperwork and, with your authorisation, file and justify the grant; you sign the application and the grant is paid into your bank account.

How we work

Your charging point in Santanyí, in 3 steps

1

Photos and details

Send us a photo of your consumer unit, another of where the car parks and your electricity contract. With that we can see which connection scheme applies, how much power fits and which way the cable runs.

2

Installation on its own line

A dedicated circuit with its own circuit breaker, its 30 mA RCD and the overvoltage protection that ITC-BT-52 asks for, and the charger set to your contracted power.

3

Certificate and paperwork

We sign the electrical installation certificate and register it with the Balearic industry department. We hand over the documentation and, with your authorisation, file the grant that is open at the time.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions about EV chargers in Santanyí

My house in Santanyí is closed for several months: can I leave a charger installed?

Yes. It can be left locked until someone identifies themselves with a card or an app, and programmed for the 2.0TD off-peak period, midnight to 8 am and weekends. You see the history from your phone. At houses in Cala Figuera or es Llombards we also leave it regulated to your contracted power.

I live in Germany and have a house in Santanyí: will I get the grant for the charger?

FACTOR 2026 covers 70% of the charging point, capped at €2,500 per installation for individuals, but it requires you to be domiciled in the Balearic Islands. If your house in Santanyí is a holiday home, we check it with you before counting on the grant. The 15% deduction belongs to Spanish income tax (IRPF).

Does the charger work with a hire car?

Yes. Between 3.7 and 22 kW ITC-BT-52 requires a type 2 socket or connector, which is the one European electric cars have, including the hire cars collected at the airport. At a villa in Santanyí with a tethered type 2 cable you just plug in; at 7.4 kW that is 30 to 40 km per hour.

At my finca in Santanyí the well pump and the car share a meter: will the power limiter trip?

No, if the charger regulates. Units with dynamic load management measure total consumption and turn the car's charge down when the pump or the irrigation starts. ITC-BT-52 standardises charging circuits from 10 A (2,300 W), so at a finca in Santanyí with little power the car can charge slowly and at night.

Can the car be charged from the house's solar panels in Santanyí?

Yes. The charger is linked to the inverter and uses the solar surplus. RD 244/2019 limits surplus compensation to the value of the electricity you buy in the month; in summer, with the production of the south of Mallorca, anything beyond that earns nothing. Putting it into the car is putting it to use.

Quality

The charger brands we install

We work with every charger brand; for example, Wallbox, ORBIS Viaris, Simon or the Tesla Wall Connector. What matters is that the unit measures the home's consumption and regulates the charge, not the logo.
