We are Joaquín and Juan. We install air-to-water heat pumps in village houses in Ses Salines, villas in Colònia de Sant Jordi and country homes across the municipality: one unit for heating, air conditioning and hot water, replacing heating oil or bottled gas. Licensed thermal installer (RITE): from the load calculation to legalisation and the grant. We don't subcontract anyone.

Your area
In Ses Salines winters are mild and summers long and humid. That suits a heat pump, which works with the outside air: the less cold it is, the less effort it takes to heat. What needs care here is something else: the sea.
Salt carried by the breeze settles on the fins of the outdoor coil and on its fixings. Many manufacturers ask in their manuals not to face the unit into the sea wind and, near the coast, offer versions with anti-corrosion treatment. In the Colònia we look for a courtyard, a leeward wall or a roof with a parapet, and we follow the manual of the unit we fit.
If the house is used mainly in season, the same unit cools the rooms and heats the shower water in the months you are there, and sits at minimum in winter, controlled from your phone. If the house is closed for months, the tank water and frost protection are set up before you leave.
In the village and on the fincas along the roads to Campos and the Cap there are many houses of marès sandstone and stone. With a renovation, the most efficient winter option is underfloor heating, which works with lukewarm water; without one, the heat pump connects to the existing radiators or sends air through ducts. For summer, fan coils or ducts: underfloor heating only heats, and cooling never goes through the floor.
In numbers
AEMET, the Spanish met office, has no station in Ses Salines; the nearest official reference with climate normals is Palma airport (1981-2010): January has a mean minimum of 3.8 °C and August a mean maximum of 31.3 °C. A heat pump works comfortably at both ends.
A heat pump does not make heat: it takes it from the outside air. A catalogue figure as an example: the Daitsu Multi-Hybrid declares a SCOP of 3.72 (official catalogue 2024-25), meaning about 3.7 kWh of heat over the season for every kWh on your bill. We work with every brand; which model suits your house is decided by its thermal loads, calculated as the RITE requires.
The other saving is on the thermostat: the IDAE, the Spanish energy agency, estimates that each degree you turn the heating up adds about 7 % to consumption, and puts comfort at 21 °C.
Grants
FACTOR 2026, from the Balearic Government, pays 70 % of a heat pump for a private household. It is worked out on a module of up to 1,000 €/kWt of the unit, rising by 450 €/kWt if the distribution is new as well (underfloor heating, for instance), and each installation is capped at 25,000 €. It is handed out first come, first served until 28 February 2027 and asks for three things: a seasonal performance (SPF) above 2.5, a registered address in the Balearic Islands and no air-to-air unit in a home.
If the house in the Colònia is your second home and your registered address is outside the Balearics, FACTOR may not apply to you: tell us your case before counting on it.
If the work improves the energy rating of your main home, or of a home you let, certified before and after, the income-tax deduction for energy efficiency may apply (works until 31 December 2026). Income-tax (IRPF) deductions are claimed by you in your Spanish tax return, using the invoices and certificates we hand over.
We prepare the paperwork and, with your authorisation, file and justify the grant; you sign the application and the grant is paid into your bank account. The authorities decide whether it is awarded.

How we work
We look at what you have now (heating oil, bottled gas, radiators, splits), how much hot water you use and when the house is lived in, and size the unit from the thermal loads, as the RITE requires.
We fit the heat pump and emitters, with the outdoor unit where the sea is least harsh on it, and legalise under the RITE. Servicing: what the RITE requires or, if the manufacturer asks for more, what the manufacturer says.
With your authorisation we file and justify the FACTOR 2026 application; you sign it and the grant is paid into your account.

Beyond heat pumps
From the village to Colònia de Sant Jordi, close to Es Trenc, we also take care of the other installations in your home.
If your roof gets the sun, panels cover part of what the heat pump uses.

Common questions
Yes, with two precautions. The climate helps: at Palma airport, the nearest AEMET station with climate normals, January has a mean minimum of 3.8 °C, and in mild air a heat pump performs better. What needs care is the salt: the outdoor unit out of the direct sea wind and, if the manufacturer offers it, with anti-corrosion treatment on the coil, as its manual requires.
Yes, but cooling does not go through the floor. Underfloor heating heats at low temperature, which is the most efficient; summer cooling comes from fan coils or ducts connected to the same heat pump. On the Mallorcan coast, with summer humidity (72 % annual mean in Palma, AEMET 1981-2010), a cold floor would sweat.
For a house in Ses Salines running on heating oil or bottled gas today, the sums go like this. A boiler at best turns almost all the fuel it burns into heat, but never more. A heat pump delivers more energy than it uses: the Daitsu Multi-Hybrid, for example, declares a SCOP of 3.72 in its official 2024-25 catalogue, about 3.7 kWh of heat per kWh of electricity. The thermostat helps too: the IDAE reckons around 7 % less consumption for each degree you turn it down.
It is left in away mode, or switched off with frost protection active (January's mean minimum is 3.8 °C at Palma airport, according to AEMET, so frost protection stays on), and the hot water is scheduled for your return. Many current units are controlled over wifi, so you can switch on the heating or cooling a day before you arrive in the Colònia.
It pays 70 % for a private household, worked out on at most 1,000 €/kWt of the heat pump (450 €/kWt more if the distribution is new) and capped at 25,000 € per installation, according to BOIB no. 83 of 2 July 2026. It is awarded first come, first served until 28 February 2027 and requires an SPF above 2.5 and a registered address in the Balearic Islands; air-to-air units in a home do not qualify.
As often as the RITE requires or, if your unit's manufacturer asks for more, as the manufacturer says: the stricter of the two applies. In Colònia de Sant Jordi, so close to the sea, it is also worth cleaning the outdoor coil more often, because salt left on the fins reduces performance.
Quality
For example Daitsu, Panasonic, Daikin or Mitsubishi Electric: we choose the model for seasonal efficiency, noise and what its manual says about marine environments, not for the badge.
