Does one of these sound familiar?
These are the four calls we get most:
- The level drops more than it should
- The filter valve drips or will not switch
- Sand is coming out of the returns
- The salt chlorinator has stopped producing
Pool repair · Mallorca
Is the water going down, does the filtration not work or has the salt chlorinator stopped producing? We are Joaquín and Juan, an installation company in Mallorca since 1998: we find the leak with instruments —not by digging at random— and we repair valves, pipework, filter, pump and salt chlorination. We tell you what is wrong and what it costs before touching anything.

These are the four calls we get most:
What we repair
Almost everything that breaks in a pool is on this list. If yours is one of them, we already know where to start.
The first job is telling evaporation from a leak, and then whether it is going through the shell or the buried pipework. Each case is searched differently, and none of them starts by digging.
The one that drips to waste even when set to filter, the one that seizes up or the one that no longer seals. We repair multiport valves and the Astral Net N'Clean: a seal kit if the body is sound, a new valve if it is scored.
Breaks from roots, from ground settlement or from a bad frost. We pressure-test line by line until we find the one that will not hold, and we only open up there. Rebuilt in pressure PVC, the same as the pump rooms we install.
If sand ends up in the pool, there is a broken lateral or a cracked standpipe. We open it, replace the part and refill the media. We work regularly with Astralpool equipment.
It will not prime, it is noisy, it leaks at the mechanical seal or it trips the RCD. We work with Ebara, DAB and Grundfos. And since we are electricians too, we check the board, not just the pump.
A chlorinator that stops producing is hardly ever dead: it is usually low salt, scale on the plates or no current. We check all three before selling anyone a new cell.
What we get asked for most
It is the number one call of the summer, and also where you see the worst work: people who dig first and ask questions later. We do it the other way round, and in steps.
In Mallorca, in the middle of August, a pool naturally evaporates in the order of a few millimetres a day. The bucket test settles it in 24 hours: a bucket of water on a step, marked inside and out. If the pool drops considerably more than the bucket, there is a leak. If they drop the same, it is evaporation and there is nothing to repair.
We compare how much it drops with the filtration off and running, isolating skimmers, main drain and returns. If it only loses water with the pump running, the problem is in the return lines; if it loses the same with it off, we look at the shell, the light housings and the wall fittings.
When it is the pipework, we pressure-test each line separately and see which one will not hold. At that point we know which pipe it is, and only then do we pinpoint the exact spot so we open up the minimum. That is the difference between lifting one paving slab and lifting the whole terrace.
With the diagnosis done we tell you what needs doing and what it costs. We never start work without you knowing the price beforehand.
How we work
By phone or WhatsApp: what you are seeing, since when and how much the level drops. That already tells us whether to come with the pressure rig or with the multimeter.
We give you an appointment and come with time to spare. We find the actual fault, show it to you and explain the options there are, with their prices.
We carry out the repair, test it with the system running and leave the pump room tidy. With an invoice.
We do not work on an emergency basis, and we would rather say so plainly: rushing out to bodge something helps nobody. If you have a leak, the water has been going for weeks and one more day changes nothing; what changes the outcome is turning up with the right instrument and with time to diagnose it properly.
While we are at it
Most pool faults in Mallorca come from the same thing: very hard water that scales up the chlorinator cell and the heat exchanger, sand that eats the valve seals, and equipment running more hours than it should.
That is why, when we repair something, we also tell you what caused it. If the underlying problem is the water, it is explained on pool and water treatment in Mallorca. And if what bothers you is what the filtration costs to run, or you want to heat the pool, that is solved with heat pumps and solar panels, which we install ourselves too.
Frequently asked questions
With the bucket test: leave a bucket of water on a step, mark the level inside and outside, and compare after 24 hours. If the pool drops more than the bucket, there is a leak. In summer in Mallorca normal evaporation is in the order of a few millimetres a day; if you are losing several centimetres, it is not the sun.
Step by step, ruling things out. First we separate whether the water is going through the shell or through the pipework, isolating skimmers, main drain and returns and checking the level with the filtration off and running. If it is the pipework, we pressure-test line by line to see which one will not hold, and pinpoint it before breaking anything. We only open up where the problem is.
Usually it is the spider gasket (the rubber disc inside) worn out, a tired spring or a body scored by sand. Often a seal kit sorts it; when the body is damaged the valve is replaced. We repair both the classic multiport valve and the Astral Net N'Clean. We tell you which of the two it is before touching anything.
Almost always a broken lateral (the diffuser arms at the bottom) or a cracked standpipe. We open the filter, take out the media, replace the part and refill the sand. While it is open we check the pressure gauge and the lid seals, which is the moment to do it.
Before replacing anything we check three things: how much salt is actually in the water, the state of the cell plates (scale or wear) and whether the unit is delivering current. Many cells written off as dead only need a proper clean; if the plates are worn, the cell is replaced, not the whole unit.
We do not work on an emergency basis. Tell us what is happening by phone or WhatsApp, we look at it and give you an appointment to see it properly. We would rather come with time, diagnose it for real and leave it solved, than rush and bodge it.
Yes, we work across the whole island, and a good share of the pools we repair belong to international owners. We look after you in Spanish, English and German, and reply the same day to arrange the visit. Puedes ver nuestros trabajos y opiniones de clientes en la JSL Google Maps listing →.
Tell us what you are seeing and we will tell you what it could be, with no obligation.
