Living with your own power in the Campos countryside
Many fincas in the Migjorn —between Campos, Sa Ràpita and Ses Salines— sit far from the grid or hang off a weak line that drops the moment a motor starts. For years the only fix was a diesel generator: noise, fumes, refuelling and a breakdown every season. An off-grid solar installation swaps that routine for quiet, stable electricity, generated and stored on the finca itself.
The heart of the system is the Victron Energy inverter-charger, which juggles three things at once: what the panels produce, what the house consumes and what flows in and out of the lithium battery bank. Lithium handles far more cycles than lead and allows deeper discharge, so you use almost all the energy you store; the MPPT controllers squeeze every panel even under a low winter sun. The result is real autonomy 365 days a year, with no dependence on the grid or on diesel.
Every job starts with a consumption study on the finca itself: we measure what the home uses and when, then size the solar field and the battery bank so it never falls short in the leaner months. We then build the structure and the technical room with its labelled, ventilated AC/DC protection panel, and we leave the installation legalised with the Industry authority and the Govern. Frequently asked questions about off-grid solar on a finca
Can you live all year round on off-grid solar alone in Mallorca?
Yes. With the Migjorn sun and a properly sized battery bank, a home runs all year with no grid connection. The key is matching the panel power and battery capacity to the finca's real consumption, which is exactly what we measure before quoting.
Do you need a backup generator?
It isn't essential. The Victron inverter can integrate a generator as backup for long spells of bad weather, but in a well-sized system it barely ever runs. Many clients end up removing it because the solar system covers the whole year.
Does an off-grid installation need to be legalised?
Yes. Even with no grid connection, a fixed installation must comply with the electrical regulations and be legalised with the Industry authority. We handle all the paperwork so the finca is fully in order.
