Huawei LUNA2000 battery
error codes: what each one means

These are the 19 error codes the battery can report, with the manufacturer's own wording and, above all, who should look at it: 4 you can check yourself without opening anything, 11 that need a technician and 4 that must not be touched.

We are Joaquín and Juan. We install and maintain solar and batteries all over Mallorca and, being electricians too, we look at the unit and at the board feeding it.

Before the code: your battery has TWO lights, and they mean different things

On the top module there is a small panel with two indicators. It is worth learning to read first, because it tells you where the problem is before you reach for your phone:

  • The dot on the left is about the power control module, the top one, the one in charge.
  • The ring on the right is about the battery modules, the ones below, which store the energy.

Both steady green means it is working. Both blinking green slowly, standby. Both off, hibernating — and that is not a fault either. In red, whichever lights up tells you which part has the problem.

The ring doubles as a fuel gauge: each lit bar is 10% of charge. A full ring means a full battery.

The 19 codes, by family

The four-digit code and its name are read in the FusionSolar app. Here is what each one means and who should look at it.

What you can check yourself

These four depend on where the battery is installed or on its own charge. None of them asks you to open anything.

CodeWhat it meansWhat the manufacturer says happenedWho looks at it
3002Battery power control module overtemperature1. The installation position of the battery power control module is not well ventilated. 2. The ambient temperature is excessively high. 3. The battery power control module is abnormal. You can check this
3008Battery expansion module overtemperature1. The battery installation position is not well ventilated. 2. The ambient temperature is excessively high. 3. The battery power control module is abnormal. You can check this
3009Battery expansion module low temperature1. The ambient temperature is excessively low. 2. A battery expansion module is abnormal. You can check this
3011Battery expansion module undervoltageThe voltage of a battery expansion module is low.You can check this

Cables and connections

These are about wiring. There is nothing you can do from outside, but it helps to know what the battery is telling you.

CodeWhat it meansWhat the manufacturer says happenedWho looks at it
3000Low battery DC input bus voltage1. The DC bus voltage of the battery is low. 2. The battery DC switch is OFF. 3. The battery cables are not correctly connected.Call us
3005Battery power control module DC switch OFF1. The DC switch of the battery power control module is OFF. 2. The DC bus cable to the battery power control module is disconnected.Call us
3007Battery expansion module cable disconnected1. A battery expansion module cable is disconnected. 2. A battery expansion module is abnormal.Call us

Faults inside the unit

Something is wrong inside one of the parts of the tower.

CodeWhat it meansWhat the manufacturer says happenedWho looks at it
3001Abnormal battery power control moduleA major fault has occurred on the internal circuit of the battery power control module.Call us
3006Abnormal battery expansion moduleA major fault has occurred on the internal circuit of the battery expansion module.Call us
3047Battery Pack Undervoltage1. The voltage of the battery pack or its cell is too low. 2. The battery pack has been stored for a long period of time. 3. The battery pack has been idle for a long time after grid connection.Call us

When the parts stop talking to each other

The parts of the battery have stopped talking to each other.

CodeWhat it meansWhat the manufacturer says happenedWho looks at it
3012Abnormal battery power control module parallel communicationThe battery power control modules of the parallel system fail to communicate with each other.Call us
3013Abnormal battery expansion module communicationThe battery power control module fails to communicate with the battery expansion modules.Call us

Versions that do not match

These are not faults: the software of the parts is not aligned.

CodeWhat it meansWhat the manufacturer says happenedWho looks at it
3049Inconsistent Battery Power Control Module Versions1. The versions of the power control modules in the parallel system are inconsistent. 2. The update failed.Call us
3050Inconsistent ESS Versions1. The version of the battery power control modules is inconsistent with that of the battery packs. 2. The update failed.Call us
3051ESS Version Mismatch1. The version of the battery power control modules does not match that of the battery packs, which affects the normal operation. 2. The update failed.Call us

Do not touch

The four serious ones. Nothing gets tried here.

CodeWhat it meansWhat the manufacturer says happenedWho looks at it
3003Battery power control module fuse blownThe fuse of the battery power control module is blown.Do not touch
3004Battery power control module reversely connectedThe positive and negative terminals are reversely connected when the battery power control module connects to the inverter.Do not touch
3010Battery expansion module short circuit1. The battery expansion module is short-circuited. 2. A battery expansion module is abnormal.Do not touch
3061Battery Pack Lifespan ReachedThe battery has reached its lifespan.Do not touch

The 4 you can check yourself, without opening anything

  • 3002 · Battery power control module overtemperature. Check that the unit has free air at the front and the sides, and that nothing is leaning against it, resting on top of it or covering it. If the room is very warm, it needs better ventilation. If the location is fine and the alarm stays, call us.
  • 3008 · Battery expansion module overtemperature. Same as the previous one: free air around the tower, nothing leaning on it or on top of it, and a place that does not overheat.
  • 3009 · Battery expansion module low temperature. The location is below the minimum temperature the manufacturer asks for. What needs looking at is the location, not the battery.
  • 3011 · Battery expansion module undervoltage. The manual itself says it charges again as soon as there is enough sun, or when charging from the grid is allowed. If it does not come back up within a few days, call us.

The 4 that must not be touched

A battery stores a lot of energy and it comes out all at once if something short-circuits. And even if it looks switched off, there may still be voltage inside. In these four cases nothing gets tried:

  • 3003 · Battery power control module fuse blown. The fuse sits inside the unit. Do not open it and do not swap the fuse to see what happens: call us.
  • 3004 · Battery power control module reversely connected. Reversed polarity: a wiring fault with a real risk. Touch nothing and let us know.
  • 3010 · Battery expansion module short circuit. A short circuit in a battery is the most serious thing on this list. Touch nothing and let us know as soon as possible.
  • 3061 · Battery Pack Lifespan Reached. There is no repair here: the manual requires handing the battery to an authorised recycling operator. We take care of that.

Huawei batteries in Mallorca

We cover the whole island: Palma, Llucmajor, Campos, Santanyí, Felanitx, Manacor, Calvià, Andratx, Marratxí, Porto Cristo and Cala d'Or, among others. If your battery is reporting one of these codes, or you are not sure how much charge it really has, it needs looking at on site: that is not fixed from a phone.

An annual service covers what the manufacturer itself asks for — heat sinks clean and clear, every six to twelve months — and looks at the whole set: battery, inverter and the board they hang from.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions about LUNA2000 error codes

Where do I see the error code of my LUNA2000 battery?

In the FusionSolar app, on your phone. The front of the battery only has two lights: they tell you where the problem is, but not the code. The four-digit code and its name are read in the app.

Both lights on my battery are blinking green — is that a fault?

No. Both indicators blinking green slowly is standby mode: the battery is powered but neither charging nor discharging. Both off is hibernation mode, which is not a fault either.

How do I know the charge left without looking at my phone?

The green ring on the front is the gauge: each lit bar is 10% of charge. A full ring means full; six bars mean 60%.

I am closing the house for a few months — does that affect the battery?

Yes, and it is the most expensive mistake. The manufacturer warns that a switched-off battery self-discharges, and that leaving it a long time with a low charge can damage it through over-discharge, with modules to replace. If you are leaving the house without power supply for months, tell us first.

Can I reset the battery myself if a red alarm comes up?

No. A battery stores a lot of energy and, even if it looks switched off, there may still be voltage inside. Write down the code and the time, or take a photo of your phone screen, and call us with that.

Do you work on Huawei batteries across Mallorca?

Yes. We install, maintain and repair solar and batteries all over the island: Palma, Llucmajor, Campos, Santanyí, Felanitx, Manacor, Calvià, Andratx and the rest.

Is your battery reporting an error?

Tell us the code shown in the app and how many modules your tower has, and we will tell you what it needs.

Where this information comes from

From the manufacturer's official manual: LUNA2000-(5-30)-S0 User Manual, ed. 17 (2024-05-30), Table 8-2 'Common alarms and troubleshooting measures', pags. impresas 119-129 = 129-139 del PDF.

The names and causes on this page are the manufacturer's own wording, taken from that table: Huawei publishes this manual in English, so nothing has been re-translated. The code itself is never translated.

The "who looks at it" column is JSL's own judgement, not the manufacturer's: their manual writes the fix for an installer. Here we only publish what an owner can check safely.
