Solar panels in Mallorca
How self-consumption, batteries and payback work, in detail.

Peguera (Paguera, as many of its German residents know it) is tucked between pine woods and hillsides, with three beaches in front. Here a solar installation starts by looking at what shade the hill, the pines and the building next door cast. We install solar panels and self-consumption systems on villas, hotels and owners' associations. We are an authorised low-voltage electrical installer.

Your area
Peguera isn't a plain in the sun. The houses climb the hillsides, the pines are tall and the hotels shade one another. Two roofs a hundred metres apart can produce differently.
The orientation of the hillside decides more than that of the roof: a house on the sunny side sees the sun all day and another, across the gully, loses it by mid-afternoon. We measure the shade with the horizon profile and with the trees on the plot, and if there is partial shade we fit optimisers or microinverters so that one shaded panel doesn't hold back the rest.
The centre of Peguera is hotels and apartment blocks that open from spring to autumn. Their daytime consumption, with air conditioning, kitchens and pool, coincides with production. On a flat roof the panels sit low, calculated for wind under the Spanish Building Code (CTE DB SE-AE).
Beyond Cala Fornells begins Cap Andritxol, an area of special natural interest under Law 1/1991: protected rural land. In the residential developments nothing changes; for a house on the edge we first check what kind of land it is. And on the seafront of the beaches the easement of the Coastal Act (Ley 22/1988) and the salt air count: panels with the IEC 61701 test.
In numbers
According to PVGIS (European Commission; a typical year calculated from satellite data, not a measurement; queried on 1 October 2026, 35° south, 14 % losses), each kWp in Peguera yields about 1,590 kWh a year, above Palma (1,572). A 3 kWp system comes to around 4,770 kWh a year, and December, the worst month, gives 58 % of July.
But the figure changes with the spot: querying points less than a kilometre away, within the town itself, PVGIS gives between 1,567 and 1,610 kWh, depending on how much horizon the terrain blocks. And PVGIS doesn't see the pines or the neighbouring building. That's why in Peguera we don't give a figure without having looked at your roof.
The saving lies in what you use while you produce: the more of your consumption falls in the sunny hours, the sooner the installation pays for itself.
Grants
IBI (property tax) and ICIO (construction tax): Peguera is part of the municipality of Calvià. Its bylaw gives a rebate of 50 % of the IBI bill for 3 periods on residential properties that install solar energy voluntarily, up to 50 % of the cost after deducting grants (art. 6º.5), and 95 % of the ICIO on the solar part (art. 4º.d), according to Calvià's 2026 tax bylaws.
FOTOPAR 2027 opens from 26 January to 30 April 2027 (the 2026 call closed on 30 April); you must apply before the work starts and it requires domicile in the Balearic Islands: with a second home you normally won't qualify. Batteries can go through FACTOR 2026 (45 %, open until 28 February 2027), but not both grants for the same thing. A hotel goes through other schemes: we'll tell you which one applies.
If it is paid for and finished in 2026, the income-tax (IRPF) deduction for self-consumption (62nd additional provision of the Income Tax Act, Ley 35/2006) is 10 % (up to €500), or 20 % (up to €1,000) if the installation is on a residential building. Income-tax (IRPF) deductions are claimed by you in your Spanish tax return, using the invoices and certificates we hand over. If you pay tax in Germany or another country as a non-resident, ask your tax adviser first.
We prepare the paperwork and, with your authorisation, file and justify the grant; you sign the application and the grant is paid into your bank account. The authorities decide whether it is awarded.

How we work
With photos of the roof and its surroundings, and the exact address, we calculate the horizon and the shade from pines and buildings before talking about panels.
Panels on the roof slope or area that gets the most hours of sun, with optimisers if there is partial shade, and legalisation of the self-consumption system (RD 244/2019).
We prepare the documents for Calvià's IBI and ICIO rebates and, with your authorisation, whichever grant is open.

Common questions
According to the typical year calculated by PVGIS (European Commission, queried on 1 October 2026, 35° south, 14 % losses), about 1,590 kWh a year per kWp in the centre of Peguera, and between 1,567 and 1,610 at points less than a kilometre away, depending on the terrain. A 3 kWp system comes to around 4,770 kWh. From that you have to subtract the shade from pines and buildings, which PVGIS doesn't see.
It depends on how many hours of direct sun the roof still gets. In Peguera the sun gives 1,590 kWh per kWp a year according to PVGIS, but shade at midday takes the most productive hours. We measure the shade with photos and the horizon profile; if it is partial, optimisers or microinverters make each panel perform separately. If there is a lot, we tell you.
Well, because the hotel uses electricity when the sun produces. In Peguera, from May to October you get 57 % of the year's production with panels at 35° and 62 % with panels at 10°, according to PVGIS. On a flat roof they are fitted low, calculated for wind (CTE DB SE-AE). FOTOPAR is for private individuals' homes, so a hotel goes through other grant schemes.
On the IBI, 50 % of the bill for 3 periods for residential properties that install solar voluntarily, capped at 50 % of the cost after deducting grants (art. 6º.5 of Calvià's bylaw). On the ICIO, 95 % on the solar part (art. 4º.d). In Peguera they apply just as in the rest of the municipality, owners' associations included.
FOTOPAR 2027 opens from 26 January to 30 April 2027 (BOIB no. 171 of 25-12-2025) and requires domicile in the Balearic Islands, as does FACTOR 2026, so with a holiday home in Peguera you normally won't qualify. Calvià's IBI rebate, 50 % for 3 periods, goes with the property. We can deal with you in German.
The land has to be checked. Cap Andritxol is an area of special natural interest under the natural areas Law 1/1991, which classifies that land as specially protected non-developable land (art. 7). If your house in Peguera is in a residential development, it is urban land and nothing changes; if it is inside the protected area, we check first and design on the existing roof.
Quality
We work with every brand; for example LONGi or JA Solar panels, Fronius or Huawei inverters with optimisers where there is shade, and BYD batteries.
