Solar panels in Mallorca
How self-consumption, batteries and payback work, in detail.

Santa Ponsa (Santa Ponça) is the largest town in Calvià: villas with pools in Nova Santa Ponsa and beside the golf courses, apartment buildings near the beach and the industrial units of Son Bugadelles. We install solar panels and self-consumption systems, with or without batteries. We are an authorised low-voltage electrical installer: survey, installation, legalisation and paperwork, with no middlemen.

Your area
The area began to be developed in 1954 and today mixes three worlds that call for different installations: the villa, the apartment building and the industrial unit.
In Nova Santa Ponsa and beside the golf courses, the house uses electricity all year: pool filtration and heating, air conditioning, often a car charger. There the system is sized from hour-by-hour consumption, and batteries make sense if the house is lived in during the evening and at night. On flat roofs, the panels sit low so they can't be seen from the street or from the house above.
In a building, the roof is shared: Spain's Horizontal Property Act (art. 17.1) lets owners approve the panels with one third of the owners representing one third of the shares, and RD 244/2019 (art. 4 and annex I) allows production to be shared among neighbours. Calvià's IBI (property tax) rebate also applies to owners' associations.
An industrial unit has what a house lacks: a lot of roof and daytime consumption, Monday to Friday. Much of what the panels produce can be used on the spot. We look at the roof, the electricity contract and the consumption curve, and tell you which grants there are for a business.
In numbers
According to PVGIS (European Commission; a typical year calculated from satellite data, not a measurement; queried on 1 October 2026, 35° south, 14 % losses), each kWp in Santa Ponsa yields about 1,602 kWh a year: more than in Calvià village (1,570) and in Palma (1,572), and the highest figure of the coastal towns we have queried. A 3 kWp system comes to around 4,810 kWh a year.
Winter holds up too: December, the worst month, gives 96 kWh per kWp, 58 % of July (166). For a house lived in all year, that means panels that keep covering part of the consumption in January, and batteries that also charge on the short days.
The saving lies in what you use while you produce. In a villa, scheduling the pool filtration and the hot water for midday is the cheapest way to make more use of it: before adding panels, you shift the consumption.
Grants
IBI: Calvià's bylaw gives a rebate of 50 % of the tax bill for 3 periods to residential properties that install solar energy without being obliged to, capped at 50 % of the installation cost after deducting grants; it also applies to owners' associations (art. 6º.5 of the IBI bylaw, Calvià's 2026 tax bylaws).
ICIO (construction tax): 95 % of the tax on the solar part (art. 4º.d of the ICIO bylaw).
FOTOPAR 2027 opens from 26 January to 30 April 2027 (the 2026 call closed on 30 April); you must apply before the work starts and it requires domicile in the Balearic Islands: with a second home you normally won't qualify. Batteries can go through FACTOR 2026 (45 %, open until 28 February 2027), but not both grants for the same thing.
If it is paid for and finished in 2026, the income-tax (IRPF) deduction for self-consumption (62nd additional provision of the Income Tax Act, Ley 35/2006) is 10 % (up to €500), or 20 % (up to €1,000) if the installation is on a residential building. Income-tax (IRPF) deductions are claimed by you in your Spanish tax return, using the invoices and certificates we hand over.
We prepare the paperwork and, with your authorisation, file and justify the grant; you sign the application and the grant is paid into your bank account. The authorities decide whether it is awarded.

How we work
With your bills and, if you have it, the consumption curve from the distribution company we see how much you use by day, how many panels fit and what each produces according to PVGIS.
Low panels on a flat roof or flush on tiles, a frame calculated for wind and legalisation of the self-consumption system (RD 244/2019) with its electrical installation certificate.
We prepare the documents for Calvià's IBI and ICIO rebates and, with your authorisation, whichever grant is open.

Common questions
According to the typical year calculated by PVGIS (European Commission, queried on 1 October 2026, 35° south, 14 % losses), about 1,602 kWh a year per kWp in Santa Ponsa, against 1,570 in Calvià village and 1,572 in Palma. A 3 kWp system comes to around 4,810 kWh a year. The worst month, December, gives 96 kWh per kWp, 58 % of July.
If you use electricity in the evening and at night, they can be. In Santa Ponsa December gives 96 kWh per kWp according to PVGIS, so there is production to charge them in winter too. If you live here, the battery can go through FACTOR 2026 (45 %, open until 28 February 2027; BOIB no. 83 of 2-7-2026). First we look at how much of your consumption can be moved to the sunny hours.
50 % of the IBI bill for 3 periods, for residential properties that install solar energy voluntarily, capped at 50 % of the installation cost once grants are deducted (art. 6º.5 of Calvià's IBI bylaw). On the construction tax, 95 % on the solar part. In Santa Ponsa it also applies to an owners' association.
Yes. Spain's Horizontal Property Act (art. 17.1) allows a renewable installation to be approved with one third of the owners representing one third of the shares, and RD 244/2019 (art. 4 and annex I) lets production be shared among the neighbours with agreed coefficients. In Costa de la Calma and in Santa Ponsa, Calvià's IBI rebate also applies to owners' associations.
It's usually where it pays most: a lot of roof and daytime consumption. In Santa Ponsa each kWp yields about 1,602 kWh a year according to PVGIS, and a unit in Son Bugadelles uses almost everything it produces during working hours. FOTOPAR is for private individuals' homes; for a business we look at the schemes that are open. We legalise it under RD 244/2019.
They needn't be. On a flat roof they go at a low tilt, below the parapet, and according to PVGIS at 10° production in Santa Ponsa is about 1,481 kWh per kWp a year, 8 % less than at 35° (1,602), with summer practically the same. The frame is calculated for wind under the CTE DB SE-AE, ballasted or anchored depending on the roof.
Quality
We work with every brand; for example LONGi or JA Solar panels, Fronius or Huawei inverters and BYD or Huawei batteries, chosen according to the house's consumption and the roof.

Send us an electricity bill and photos of the roof and we'll tell you what you'd produce. Itemised quote.
