AEMET only publishes climate normals for two stations in Mallorca, both in Palma; the airport one (1981-2010) gives an average maximum of 31.3 °C in August. Inland, with no breeze, the afternoons drag on and houses are still hot when night comes.

In the bedroom, what counts is noise. As an example, Fujitsu's KG series declares 19 dB(A) for the indoor unit in quiet mode in its catalogue. The output is chosen to fit: an oversized unit starts and stops, makes more noise and uses more.
The outdoor unit, in the back yard or on the roof terrace
In a house with party walls the façade is left clear: the outdoor unit goes in the back yard, the patio or on the roof terrace, on anti-vibration supports and away from the neighbour's window. The refrigerant line runs down inside or through the patio.
Upper floors under the roof
The top floor, right under the roof, is the one that suffers most. A split per room or ducts through the false ceiling of the corridor solves it; if the roof is insulated as well, a smaller machine will do.
