Air conditioning in Binissalem,
from the stone house to the new build.

We're Joaquín and Juan. In Binissalem we see everything: manor and village houses in the centre, with high ceilings and stone; new homes that already come with air-conditioning pre-installation; and detached houses on the outskirts and in Biniagual. Each needs a different unit, and in all of them the Raiguer summer bites. Registered RITE installer, certified for fluorinated gases. No subcontractors.

Your area

Binissalem: long, dry inland summers

Binissalem sits at the heart of the Raiguer, home of the Binissalem wine D.O. AEMET has no climate normal in the village; the nearest inland one, Palma airport (1981-2010), gives July 342 hours of sunshine, 16 clear days on average and a 31.2 °C average maximum, reaching 31.3 °C in August. Plenty of sun: the kind that ripens the grapes and heats the houses.

High ceilings and double heights

Houses in the centre have ceilings over three metres and sometimes double heights. In cooling that's not serious; in heating, warm air stays up top. So capacity is calculated from each room's volume and loads, as the RITE requires, and we choose where to blow so the air reaches where you are.

Houses in the centre: facade and patio

In a house in the old centre the facade is respected: the outdoor unit goes in the patio, the yard or on the roof. If it ever had to be visible, the Binissalem town hall is consulted first. The pipes go wherever the house already makes room.

New homes with pre-installation

Many new houses on the outskirts come with the pre-installation done: copper pipes, drain and cable already in place. Before hanging the unit we check the diameters and lengths match the chosen model and pressure-test the circuit for tightness before charging the gas.

Figures and regulations

Savings and rules in a Binissalem home

Setting, blinds and fan

IDAE puts the saving at about 7 % per degree and recommends 26 °C or more in summer. What costs nothing, also from IDAE: lower awnings and blinds in the sunny hours and use a ceiling fan, which makes it feel 3 to 5 °C cooler.

Refrigerant, tests and leaks

New units use R32 (GWP 675, Regulation (EU) 2024/573). Before charging, the circuit is evacuated and pressure-tested; and if it ever loses gas, the regulation requires the leak to be found and repaired without undue delay. We handle the gas under Royal Decree 115/2017 certification.

Maintenance: whichever is stricter

The RITE sets a minimum (IT.3, table 3.1): in homes, air conditioning up to 12 kW, every 4 years. The manufacturer may ask for more, and then the manufacturer's schedule applies. You clean the filters yourself: the manual of a split such as the General ASEH09KJCAL, for example, says every two weeks in use.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions about air conditioning in Binissalem

My new house in Binissalem has an air-conditioning pre-installation: will it work with any unit?

Not always. Each manufacturer's manual sets the pipe diameters and maximum length for each model. Before installing in your Binissalem home, we check the pre-installation matches, evacuate and pressure-test it, and only then is the gas charged: that is how we prevent the leaks Regulation (EU) 2024/573 (art. 4) requires us to avoid.

How do I cool a high-ceilinged house in the centre of Binissalem?

With capacity calculated from each room's volume and heat loads (RITE), not just floor area. Warm air collects up high, so where the indoor unit goes and where it blows matter. With average July maximums of 31.2 °C in AEMET's inland series, the afternoon sun on the facade counts in Binissalem.

How many hours does air conditioning run in a Binissalem summer?

It depends on the house and the setting; there's no single figure. What AEMET does give is the sun behind it: in the nearest inland series, Palma airport, July adds up to 342 hours of sunshine and 16 clear days on average (1981-2010). With blinds down and a 26 °C setting, as IDAE recommends, it runs noticeably fewer hours.

How much do I save by raising the air from 24 to 26 °C in my Binissalem home?

According to IDAE, about 7 % per degree: two degrees, roughly 14 % less on cooling. The RITE takes 23-25 °C as the indoor summer design condition; the famous 19/27 °C don't apply to your home: Royal Decree-law 14/2022 (art. 29) imposed them only on administrative, commercial and public-assembly buildings and premises (cultural venues, entertainment, bars and restaurants, stations and airports), and it expired on 1 November 2023.

What happens to my old R410A unit when I replace it?

R410A is a 50/50 blend of HFC-32 (GWP 675) and HFC-125 (GWP 3,500): with those annex I values of Regulation (EU) 2024/573 and the calculation in its annex VI, its GWP comes to 2,088. Releasing it into the air on purpose is prohibited (art. 4.1). Before dismantling, the gas is recovered by machine and handled by an F-gas certified company (Royal Decree 115/2017). The unit you already have running in Binissalem can keep going and be repaired; you replace it when you decide.

Do you also work in Biniagual and the houses on the outskirts of Binissalem?

Yes, across the whole municipality: the centre, Biniagual, the detached houses on the outskirts and the country houses. For a quote, photos of each room, the outdoor spot and the fuse box are enough, with the square metres and ceiling height. We reply within 24-48 hours on working days.
