Solar panels in Mallorca
How self-consumption, batteries and payback work, in detail.
See the full guide →Solar panels · Consell
In Consell we install solar panels and self-consumption, with or without batteries, on village houses, on country houses among vines and almond trees and on industrial units. We are a licensed low-voltage installation company: study, installation, legalisation and the paperwork for the town hall and the grants, with no middlemen.

Your area
Consell lies on the Raiguer plain, between Santa Maria and Binissalem, with the Serra de Tramuntana in sight but far away: there is no mountain here to take the sun. And it is one of the villages in the district that give a rebate for solar panels on both municipal taxes, the property tax (IBI) and the construction tax.
In the centre, houses share a wall with the neighbour and have a tiled roof split into two pitches. We use the one facing south or west, with the panels flush with the tiles, and the inverter goes indoors, in the garage or the utility room. Before counting panels we look at the shade cast by the house next door and the chimneys.
Outside the village there is room: the roofs of porches and outbuildings, or a well-oriented frame on the ground. If the finca has a well, the pump is one of the loads that suits solar panels best, because it can be timed to run in the hours of sun.
A workshop or a warehouse uses power by day, just when the panels are producing: most of the energy is used on the spot and often no battery is needed. It is sized with the real consumption curve of the business.
In numbers
According to PVGIS, the European Commission's tool (query of 7 Oct 2026, 35° south, 14% losses), in Consell each installed kWp gives about 1,562 kWh a year, 2% less than in Palma (1,598). The terrain doesn't count: with and without the horizon the figure is the same.
A 3 kWp home system comes to around 4,700 kWh a year. The month that gives least is November, with about 98 kWh per kWp, and the one that gives most is July, with 160: in winter you produce around 60% of what you do in summer.
The saving is in what you use while you produce: every kWh from your panels is one you don't buy. That is why the first thing we ask for is a bill, to see at what times you use electricity.
Grants
IBI (property tax): Consell's IBI bylaw (art. 6.5, BOIB no. 136 of 2020) gives a rebate of 50% of the tax for 3 years to homes with a photovoltaic system of at least 3 kW, and 25% to those that fit solar thermal. It has to be applied for within the 6 months the bylaw sets: miss that and it is lost.
ICIO (construction tax): the construction-tax bylaw (art. 5.2.a, BOIB no. 22 of 2024) gives a rebate of 70% on the cost of the solar installation. Both rebates have to be applied for; we prepare the technical documents the town hall asks for.
FOTOPAR: the 2026 call closed on 30 April 2026. The 2027 call runs from 26 January to 30 April 2027, or until the budget runs out, and you apply before work starts; it requires a home address in the Balearic Islands. For batteries, FACTOR 2026 is still open (45%, until 28 February 2027); it does not cover a private individual's panels.
If the system is paid for and finished in 2026, the self-consumption income-tax (IRPF) deduction (additional provision 62) is 10%, up to €500. Income-tax (IRPF) deductions are claimed by you in your Spanish tax return, using the invoices and certificates we hand over.
We prepare the paperwork and, with your authorisation, file and justify the grant; you sign the application and the grant is paid into your bank account. The authorities decide whether it is awarded.

How we work
With an electricity bill, photos of the roof or the land and the location, we use PVGIS to calculate what you would produce each month and how many kW your consumption needs.
We install, sign the electrical installation certificate and register the self-consumption (RD 244/2019). With that the system is legal.
We tell you which rebate applies and by when to apply, and we hand you the technical documents for the town hall and for whichever grant is open.
Common questions
Consell's IBI bylaw (art. 6.5, BOIB no. 136 of 2020) gives a rebate of 50% of the tax for 3 years to homes with a photovoltaic system of at least 3 kW. It has to be applied for within the 6 months the bylaw allows. We hand you the installation certificate and the technical documents to apply for it at the town hall.
That has a rebate too: Consell's ICIO bylaw (art. 5.2.a, BOIB no. 22 of 2024) takes 70% off the tax on the cost of the solar installation. You apply for it when processing the works, which in the Balearic Islands normally go by prior notification (Balearic Planning Act 12/2017, arts. 148.4 and 153.1.e).
According to the typical year calculated by PVGIS, from the European Commission (35° south, 14% losses), each kWp gives about 1,562 kWh a year in Consell, 2% less than in Palma (1,598). December gives about 99 kWh per kWp and July 160. A 3 kWp system produces around 4,700 kWh a year.
We look at it pitch by pitch. Reaching the 3 kW that Consell's IBI bylaw asks for takes only a few of today's panels, so many village houses get there; what decides it is the orientation and the shade from the neighbouring houses. With photos and the location we check PVGIS and tell you what output really fits.
There is no open window right now: FOTOPAR 2026 closed on 30 April 2026 and the 2027 call runs from 26 January to 30 April 2027 (BOIB no. 171 of 25-12-2025), with €600/kWp up to 5 kWp and €420/kWh for batteries. You apply before work starts and it requires a home address in the Balearic Islands.
We do. We are a licensed low-voltage installation company: we sign the electrical installation certificate and register the self-consumption under RD 244/2019 with the Balearic Government. That is the paperwork Consell town hall then asks for, for the IBI and the ICIO, and that the grant calls require.
