Solar panels in Mallorca
How self-consumption, batteries and payback work, in detail.

In Sencelles and its hamlets, Biniali, Ruberts, Jornets and Cas Canar, we install solar panels and self-consumption, with or without batteries: on the roof of a village house or on the land of a finca. We are a licensed low-voltage installation company: study, installation, legalisation and grant paperwork, with no middlemen.

Your area
Sencelles is Pla de Mallorca: a small village, several hamlets and a lot of countryside between them. According to INE's 2025 gazetteer, 2,202 of its 4,077 residents live outside the villages, in houses scattered along the country lanes. There are no hills to cast shade, and on a finca there is almost always room to spare to point the panels the right way.
When the roof is small, old or faces the wrong way, the panels go on the land, on an aluminium frame with concrete ballast, no foundations, facing south. On a lawful building on rural land, the Balearic Climate Change Act 10/2019 treats self-consumption as a permitted use; what your plot allows we check with the town hall before proposing anything.
There are country houses where bringing in the power line isn't worth the cost. There we build an off-grid system: panels, batteries and inverter, sized for November and December, the months with the least sun. In Sencelles, according to the typical year calculated by PVGIS, December gives about 97 kWh per kWp, a little over 60% of what July gives.
In Sencelles, Biniali, Ruberts or Jornets the houses are stone-built, with tiled roofs and sometimes a yard. The panels go flush with the best-oriented roof pitch and the cabling runs down inside. If the house is listed, we first check what the town hall requires.
In numbers
According to PVGIS, from the European Commission (query of 7 October 2026, 35° south, 14% losses), each kWp installed in Sencelles gives about 1,539 kWh a year; in Biniali, 1,538. Palma gives 1,598: the difference is around 4%.
A 3 kWp system produces around 4,600 kWh a year. Month by month, July gives 158 kWh per kWp and December 97. In a house connected to the grid, that decides how much you save in winter; in an off-grid house, it decides the size of the batteries.
If the finca has a well, a pool or a heat pump, those are loads that can be moved to the sunny hours. The more you use while the panels are producing, the sooner the system pays for itself.
Grants
Property tax (IBI): the Sencelles bylaw we have reviewed (BOIB no. 186 of 24-12-2015) gives a 50% rebate for 5 years to solar thermal systems with approved collectors. It has been amended since, so for photovoltaics we check the bylaw in force for you before you count on anything. The construction tax (ICIO) has no solar rebate.
FOTOPAR: the 2026 call closed on 30 April 2026; the 2027 call runs from 26 January to 30 April 2027 or until its €2 million run out, and you apply before work starts. FACTOR 2026 is still open for batteries (45%, until 28 February 2027) and does not cover a private individual's panels. Both require a home address in the Balearic Islands and, for an off-grid system, proof that the site is lawful.
If the system is paid for and finished in 2026, the self-consumption income-tax deduction (additional provision 62) is 10%, up to €500. Income-tax (IRPF) deductions are claimed by you in your Spanish tax return, using the invoices and certificates we hand over.
We prepare the paperwork and, with your authorisation, file and justify the grant; you sign the application and the grant is paid into your bank account. The authorities decide whether it is awarded.

How we work
With an electricity bill (or, if the house is off-grid, the list of what you want to power), photos and the location, we use PVGIS to calculate the output month by month.
We decide with you where the panels go, check what Sencelles town hall requires for your plot and install on a frame designed for wind.
We sign the electrical installation certificate, register the self-consumption (RD 244/2019) and, with your authorisation, file whichever grant is open.
Common questions
In many cases, yes. The Balearic Climate Change Act 10/2019 treats self-consumption as a permitted use on lawful buildings on rural land. We mount them on a frame with concrete ballast, no foundations, and first check with Sencelles town hall which procedure your plot needs: on a roof, a prior notification is usually enough (Act 12/2017, arts. 148.4 and 153.1.e).
According to the typical year calculated by PVGIS (European Commission, 35° south, 14% losses), about 1,539 kWh per kWp a year, 4% less than in Palma (1,598). July gives 158 kWh per kWp and December 97. A 3 kWp system comes to around 4,600 kWh a year.
On the worst month, not the average. In Sencelles, PVGIS gives about 97 kWh per kWp in December: with that figure and what the house uses in winter we decide how many panels and how much battery are needed, and whether a backup generator makes sense. To apply for FACTOR or FOTOPAR for an off-grid system you have to prove the site is lawful.
The bylaw we have reviewed (BOIB no. 186 of 24-12-2015) gives 50% for 5 years to solar thermal systems with approved collectors, and it has been amended since. We won't promise you a rebate for photovoltaics without reading the version in force: we check it for you. Sencelles' construction tax (ICIO) has no solar rebate.
Yes, and it's one of the loads that fits best, because irrigation can be scheduled for the sunny hours. In July, each kWp installed in Sencelles gives about 158 kWh according to the typical year calculated by PVGIS, just when you irrigate most. It is sized from the pump's power and the hours of irrigation, and we legalise the installation as a low-voltage company.
We do. As a licensed low-voltage installation company we sign the electrical installation certificate and register the self-consumption under RD 244/2019 with the Balearic Government. The technical documents the town hall or the grant call asks for we hand over to you ready.
