Solar panels in Valldemossa,
up high and in the sun.

In Valldemossa we install solar panels and self-consumption, with or without batteries, on stone houses in the village and on fincas across the municipality, from the Deià road to the Palma road. We are an authorised low-voltage electrical installer: study, installation, legalisation and grant paperwork, with no middlemen.

Your area

Valldemossa: in the mountains, but open to the south

Valldemossa sits at around 400 metres, right in the Serra de Tramuntana, but the village looks down the valley towards Palma. So, unlike other villages in the range, the mountains take very little of its sun.

Stone houses in the village

Between the Charterhouse and the cobbled streets, houses are stone-built with tiled, often small roofs. The panels go flush on the south-facing pitch so they show as little as possible, and if the house is listed the licence is obtained before anything goes up.

Fincas in the Natural Area

If the finca lies inside the Serra de Tramuntana Natural Area, its Natural Resources Management Plan applies (Decree 19/2007, amended in 2023). We check what that plan and the municipal planning allow before deciding whether the panels go on a roof, a porch or the ground.

Houses off the grid

Some fincas have no power line, or a very distant one. There the system is sized for the worst month: in Valldemossa, according to the typical year calculated by PVGIS, December gives about 79 kWh per kWp, half of what July gives. That figure sets the number of panels and the battery size.

In numbers

What a solar panel produces in Valldemossa (in numbers)

According to PVGIS (European Commission, query of 7 Oct 2026, 35° south, 14 % losses), in Valldemossa each installed kWp gives about 1,442 kWh a year, 10 % less than Palma (1,598). A 3 kWp home system comes to around 4,330 kWh a year.

The terrain barely matters here: without mountains PVGIS would give 1,453 kWh, so the horizon takes less than 1 % a year. December gives about 79 kWh per kWp, against 99 in Palma.

The saving is in what you use while the panels produce. At 400 metres the winter needs more heating than on the coast: if you heat with a heat pump, the panels take a bite out of that bill.

Grants

Grants and local taxes in Valldemossa

IBI and ICIO: Valldemossa's tax bylaws published in the BOIB (IBI, BOIB 92/2017; ICIO, BOIB 111/2008) have no solar rebate. If the Town Council approves one, we'll let you know.

FOTOPAR: the 2026 call closed on 30 April 2026. The 2027 call runs from 26 January to 30 April 2027 or until its €2 million run out; you apply before work starts and need a home address in the Balearic Islands. For batteries, FACTOR 2026 is open (45 %, until 28 February 2027); it does not cover a private individual's panels. For an off-grid system, both require proof that the site is lawful.

If the system is paid for and finished in 2026, the self-consumption income-tax deduction (DA 62ª) is 10 %, up to €500. Income-tax (IRPF) deductions are claimed by you in your Spanish tax return, using the invoices and certificates we hand over.

We prepare the paperwork and, with your authorisation, file and justify the grant; you sign the application and the grant is paid into your bank account. The authorities decide whether it is awarded.

How we work

How we do it in Valldemossa, in 3 steps

1

Study with your bill

With an electricity bill, photos of the roof or land and the location, we use PVGIS to calculate what you'd produce month by month and how much of your consumption it covers.

2

Rules for your plot

Before installing we check whether the house is listed or the finca lies in the Natural Area, and what Valldemossa Town Council requires in your case.

3

Installation and legalisation

We install, register the self-consumption (RD 244/2019) with the electrical installation certificate and, with your authorisation, file whichever grant is open.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions about solar panels in Valldemossa

How much does a solar panel produce in Valldemossa?

According to the typical year calculated by PVGIS, the European Commission's tool (35° south, 14 % losses), each kWp gives about 1,442 kWh a year in Valldemossa, 10 % less than Palma. The village faces south towards the Palma valley, and the mountains take less than 1 % a year. December gives about 79 kWh per kWp; July, 157.

My house is a stone house in the centre of Valldemossa: can I have panels?

Usually, yes. In the Balearic Islands, panels on a roof only need a prior notification (Balearic Planning Act 12/2017, arts. 148.4 and 153.1.e), but if the building is listed or a Site of Cultural Interest a licence is needed. They go flush on the tiles to show as little as possible, and we check the municipal heritage catalogue before proposing anything.

My finca is in the Serra de Tramuntana: which rules apply?

The Serra de Tramuntana has been a UNESCO World Heritage Cultural Landscape since 2011, and much of it is protected as a Natural Area with a Natural Resources Management Plan (Decree 19/2007, amended by Decree 2/2023). On top of that, under the Balearic Climate Change Act 10/2019 self-consumption systems on lawful buildings on rural land do not need a declaration of general interest (art. 48.3.d). What can be done on your particular plot we check with the Town Council and, if you have one, with your architect.

Is there an IBI or ICIO rebate for solar panels in Valldemossa?

No. Valldemossa's tax bylaws published in the BOIB (IBI, BOIB 92/2017; ICIO, BOIB 111/2008) have no solar rebate. You may still qualify for the self-consumption income-tax deduction if the system is paid for and finished in 2026, and for FACTOR 2026 for the batteries.

I want panels and batteries on an off-grid finca in Valldemossa: how is it sized?

On the worst month, not the average. In Valldemossa, according to the typical year calculated by PVGIS, December gives about 79 kWh per kWp: with that and the house's winter consumption we decide how many panels and how many kWh of battery are needed. If you apply for FACTOR or FOTOPAR for an off-grid system, you must prove the site is lawful.

Who legalises a solar installation in Valldemossa?

We do. We are an authorised low-voltage electrical installer: we sign the electrical installation certificate and register the self-consumption under RD 244/2019 with the Balearic Government. We hand you the paperwork the grants and the Town Council require.
