One municipality, three realities
The village is inland; Can Picafort and Son Serra de Marina are on the bay of Alcúdia. There is no AEMET station in the municipality: the nearest are Muro-S'Albufera (2 m), for the coast, and Sineu-Poliesportiu, on the central plain, for inland; their data is on aemet.es. Coast and inland ask for different things, and how the house is used even more so.
Can Picafort: flats that are let
A rental flat has many users and many hours of running. A unit with a simple remote, filters that are easy to remove and a service before the season make sense. If the building has a community of owners, the outdoor unit follows the Horizontal Property Act (art. 7.1) and the statutes.
Son Serra de Marina: houses closed all winter
A house shut for months by the sea gathers dust in the filters, humidity and salt on the outdoor unit. Before switching on in June: clean filters, a clear drain and the outdoor coil checked. Refrigerant, if needed, only by certified staff (Royal Decree 115/2017).
The village: inland houses
In the village houses, the same heat-pump split that cools in August heats in January. If there is a courtyard or yard, the outdoor unit goes there, in the shade and away from the neighbours’ bedrooms.

What SEER means
SEER is seasonal cooling efficiency: how many kWh of cooling the unit delivers per kWh of electricity, calculated under the standard over a whole season. For example, the General ASEH09KJCAL declares a SEER of 9.2, class A+++. The higher it is, the less it uses for the same cooling; what you pay also depends on hours and setpoint.
The IDAE setpoint
26 °C or higher in summer: each degree lower is around 7% more consumption. In a rental flat, leaving the recommended setpoint on the remote and a note with IDAE’s tips —shutters down in the sunny hours— saves more than any gadget.

My house in Son Serra is closed all winter: what do I check before summer?
Clean filters, a clear condensate drain, no leaves or sand around the outdoor unit and no salt on the coil. If it cools poorly or ice forms on the pipes, it may be short of gas: then the leak is found and fixed before recharging, as Regulation (EU) 2024/573 requires.
Split or multi-split for a two-bedroom flat with a living room?
Three splits means three outdoor units; a multi-split runs the three indoor units off a single outdoor one, which takes less space on the balcony. We decide after sizing each room from its heat load, as the RITE requires.
How much does air conditioning cost in Can Picafort?
